“Back To Kaua'i”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

It's been seven months since we've been on the Garden Isle and we can't wait to go back! Last time we stayed at Poi Pu Resort and will do so again this time. We rented a reasonably priced, very clean, one bedroom, one bath, two level condo through Suite Paradise. It had a fully equipped kitchen, sliding doors from the living room to a green belt and just steps to B-B-Q's.
It was quiet, the neighbors were friendly, parking was easy and we were a short walk to the pool(s), spa, restaurant, and tennis. A slightly longer walk (approx. 1/4 mile) got us to the beach and the various resorts dotted along the Poi Pu coast.
Suite Paradise was offering a free rental car (you pay airport taxes/fees - approx $10./day) which we took advantage of. Very efficient quick in and out.
Seven months is just long so we'll be back next month! Can't wait!

“Beautiful but sometimes noisy”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

We had 10 nights in Building 1 of Kahala in Poipu Kai; it was our first time on Kauai. We booked "run-of-the-house" through Suite Paradise, so we saved ourselves some money and in many ways lucked out to be assigned where we were.

The condo itself was roomy, clean, and well-furnished as advertised----everything we needed. Early every morning I'd go out super early to drink coffee, read my book, and listen to the distant roosters, the rustling palms and the roar of Brennecke's Beach a short distance away.

We appreciate HD TV a lot more, now that we're home, but we didn't need TV too much anyway.

The reason we can't give this condo a better rating is that there was a lot of noise---and we never really knew when it was going to happen. We faced the pool directly, and there were lots of exuberant youngsters who should have been in school, plus young adults eager to impress each other; noise continued until 10 PM and was especially annoying because people would sit across from each other in the hot tub and talk above the din of the water-jets.
We were on the second floor, so other guests intermittently clomped around in the suite above us. The adjacent restaurant, while nice, also generates noise in the evenings. The busy road alongside our bedroom we were able to drown out only because there were spare fans. But the worst thing were the McLouds below us, the obnoxiously ignorant couple whose high-decibel conversations on their lanai many evenings were as inarticulate as they were rude. We called security one time but of course they couldn't do anything because it wasn't 10 PM yet.

So anyway, I wouldn't discourage you from booking in Poipu Kai, but if you're at all sensitive to noise on your peaceful vacation, make sure it's a quiet location within the complex.

Room Tip: Ask for the top floor for less noise.

Mahalo for staying with Suite Paradise and taking the time to post your comments. I am sorry that you had to deal with noise throughout your stay. If I might suggest on your next visit to request something in a quieter area, possibly away from the pool where it can be noisy from children playing. We care about your holiday and pay attention the requests that come in. We are not always able to guarantee a request but we make every effort to. Also reporting the extreme noisiness to our front office could have allowed us to offer other options that may have been quieter for your stay. Please do not hesitate to contact me directly for your next holiday and I will look into your accommodations personally.
Aloha,

“Good location and comfortable”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 January 2012

We recently returned from a 4 night stay at Poipu Kai and enjoyed it. We had a spacious and clean 1 bedroom condo with garden views. Our unit wasn't outdated as others experienced. In fact, the kitchen appeared newly remodeled and had everything we needed to cook.. except the groceries of course. The location was great with easy access to the beach and a quick drive, or a long walk, to groceries and restaurants. It only took us a few minutes to reach the beach by foot and there are 3 very close by to enjoy.

If you want to get away from hotel living and feel more like home, this is a great place to stay whether you're a couple or with your family. I would definitely stay here again our next time in Kauai and can't wait to come back!

“Guaranteed comfortable”

We've stayed at Poipu Kai for about nine years in a row between Thanksgiving and Christmas - as we did this year. Generally rent a one bedroom. Units are always clean, well stocked (kitchen as well as beach items like chairs and boogie boards) and should a minor problem arise maintenance comes quickly and resolves it. For walkers the beach is not far or there is ample parking at the Poipu Beach parking lot. We usually rent a garden or garden deluxe unit all of which have nice garden views. We've already made reservations for next year.

Room Tip: We've stayed at many of the rooms and we haven't had a problem with any of them. All good.

“Fine--would prefer to stay in another unit next time.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 December 2011

We stayed in unit 221 of the Makanui section in this resort. It is about 20 years old, dated, kitchen not well equipped, and a good ten-minute slog to the beach and only a few minutes less to get to the pool. It does, however, boast perhaps the best view of the ocean in the development and has 2 bedrooms. Lots of beach towels were provided, and we were given a small supply of laundry detergent, coffee, soap and shampoo to get us started--also a bottle of wine chilling in the fridge, a nice touch. It is perfectly adequate, to be sure, though would benefit from a bit of a reno from the owners, who we understand are almost never there. A plus are the next-door neighbours, a retired couple who live there for 6 months of the year and who have a wealth of knowledge about where to go and what to see.

Mahalo for staying with Suite Paradise and taking the time to post your comments regarding your holiday! We require our owners to upgrade something in their island home every 5 years. Some choose to replace furniture, beds, carpeting, etc and some choose to remodel such as their kitchen and bathrooms. Looking at this particular owner it seems that it was at least 5 years since they have replaced or remodeled their home. Your comments were sent to our Quality Assurance Manager whom will be contacting the owner to upgrade items in their home. Please do not hesitate to contact me directly at 800-367-8020 for your next holiday, I will personally look into your accommodation. Your comfortability and holiday is important to us at Suite Paradise and wish you to have the very best possible.
