First off, I will state that the service during my stay reflected my other encounters with Sheraton Hotels. The staff went out of their way to make our stay a pleasant one.
I find that ratings can vary depending on one's taste. If you are a bargain seeker, then you may rate this place a 5 within it's niche (provided the Hotel is still discounting as they were when I purchased my stay). On the other hand, if you are a person that expects every detail of the room to be exquisite you may end up rating this place much lower.
At the time of this review, the outside construction was still going on, but was un-noticeable from our room in the 14xx room wing (I think it was the ocean wing). The main construction was around the new rum fire restaurant. I am hoping that they would attend to the rooms next as they look like their last remodel was the early 80's. I found the room to be thoroughly clean, but old. In the context of the vacation the fact that I got a great deal on a package, and that I knew what to expect from the reviews I read here, I was very happy with my selection and would go back again. On the other hand, I probably would have chosen somewhere else if I were on a honeymoon or anniversary.
This property has a lot of potential, but needs some work. The staff is up to speed when it comes to service though.
One last note, but a crucial one, the outdoor tile is VERY SLICK WHEN WET. I don't know if this is the old tile or the new tile, either way, the Sheraton should look into replacing it.

We stayed in Room 1334 which is an oceanfront room for seven nights. The views from the room were breathtakingly beautiful . . . the room was dirty, dark, and small. During our eight days, our carpet was not vacuumed; our bathroom floor was not mopped. We put towels on the floor in order to keep our feet clean. In order to have our bedding changed, we had to place a "sheet change" request on our pillows. We LOVED the location of the hotel, but we will not stay there again because the rooms are just too depressing and inferior.

We stayed in one of the Deluxe Ocean Front Rooms and it was a great room. We could see humpback whales from our balcony. We didn't use the beach but went to the pool and it was very nice. The restaurant that we tried was very good also.

This hotel does one thing REALLY well...Location. The rooms are just average, but if you stay in a deluxe ocean front room, you will overlook the problems with the room. If you like it quiet, request building #1. It is closer to the ocean with a rocky coastline. Building #2 overlooks the beach and Lavas restaurant. We were in building 2 for one night and then requested a change to #1 because the music from Lavas bothered us at night. A big bonus for these rooms right now is being able to see the whales from your lanai. We saw whales breaching every morning while drinking our coffee. All of that being said, this hotel needs some attention. I believe we were in a renovated room. If so, they needed to do a better job. The entire place feels old and somewhat run down. We would have moved to the Hyatt had our room not been ocean front.
