We stayed at the Kauai in for 3 nights on the 2nd floor (Room 209), and it was honestly the first time I ever fell in love with a hotel room. Driving up to it, my first thought at looking at this complex of 2-story khaki buildings was "They look like barracks!" But after seeing some of the island and falling in love with such breathtaking beauty of the Kauian culture, I realized that the Kauai Inn buildings are very much in the style of the island, which I found extremely charming (and relative).
Our room had an amazing pristine view of the mountain behind it and the bay next to it. It was such a stunning view to wake up to in the morning.
Our room was equipped with a working shower/bath and a toilet with the basin outside of it to double as a basin for our small kitchen area.( In this kitchen area we also had a microwave oven and a fridge.)
Our lovely queen sized bed was such a 'cloud' to fall into and disappear into dream land at end of a long day of excursions. The pool area is small, but in February was never occupied by more than 3 or 4 people at once.
Breakfast was simple with basic breads, marvelous fruit, etc.
The luxury of it all was the location and the care given to providing simple but very nice amenities and then just letting the island speak for itself.
We were in heaven! And this had to be the best hotel we'd ever stayed in , just because of the combinaton of such wonderful elements.
