“Just as nice as we remembered”

This was our third time staying at Marjorie's Kauai Inn and we had a wonderful stay just like the others. The first two times, Marjorie owned the place and we enjoyed her "do more than one fun thing a day" attitude which the new owners have incorporated. Unfortunately, the new owners were out of town but guest hosts, Gary and Luanne, were great substitutes. They went out of their way to ensure that we had a great stay.

The inn is secluded and hangs over a beautiful valley. There are only three guest rooms so it's quiet and you practically have the pool and jacuzzi to yourself. Rooms are super clean and have kitchenettes. There were several goodies awaiting us in the frig. which were much appreciated. Breakfasts are expanded continental and plentiful. The garage is a storeroom of anything you might need to borrow for the beach, a picnic, etc.

One of the main reasons we returned to Kauai was to spend some time at Marjorie's and we are happy to report that it still lives up to our expectations.

Room Tip: We have stayed in the Sunset Room and the Valley View Room.

“Fabulous B&B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

My boyfriend and I stayed here for a few nights in early January and we wish we had allowed ourselves more time in Kauai. Mike was there to welcome us and give us the grand tour when we arrived and I was blown away not only by the beauty of the scenery, but also their lovely home. Both Mike and Alexis are a pleasure to chat with and are more then accommodating to meet your requests and offer you advice. When making our booking we took up Alexis on her offer to book our catamaran trip and tubing adventure so that everything was taken care for us before we even arrived.

We stayed in the Valley View room and only have great things to say about it from the convenience of entering right from the driveway, to the amazing view and of course the yummy snacks and beverages in our kitchen fridge. The garage is fully stocked with beach toys and accessories and even the odd bathroom essential that you may have forgotten back home - they really think of everything here and every guest is welcome to help themselves. Our room was spacious and quiet and with having our own bathroom and kitchenette, it doesn't feel like a regular B&B. The only thing here that worried me was their steep driveway. I was nervous parking our heavy jeep at the top but Mike graciously swapped spots with us during our stay which was very much appreciated.

Many people have commented on the excellent breakfasts here and they are bang on. It's such a great way to start the day with home cooked meals and freshly made juices.

I highly recommend Marjorie's and would love to return here again.

“Great getaway in Kauai”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 January 2012

I have been coming to Kauai since the 60s and have seen Iwa and Iniki come and go. The Lawa'i Valley has a special place, near to all and yet quiet (sans Roosters) enough to relax and enjoy the quiet life away from the beaches and resorts. Marjorie must have been a forceful woman, building a place on a hillside that makes us in California nervous, considering tremblers, but solid it is. Great views of distal valley (no ocean views), and Alexis and Mike were good hosts during our stay. Was a bit suprised in our hosts lack of knowledge about the island and places to go, but they're working while there and need to vacation a bit there to find those pearls. Our friends, who took a neighboring room had the valley view and we the sunset. Again, Alexis and Mike were wonderful and we recommend the whole experience highly.

Room Tip: As house is facing west with hillside behine, breezes aren't steady, so would not pick sunset fo...

“Wonderful Stay!”

After viewing several bed and breakfasts online, we decided to stay at Marjorie's because of all the great reviews...and we were't disappointed!!! After traveling from NYC, Alexis and Mike heated up some leftover food for us upon our arrival since all the restaurants were closed and we were completely exhausted. The breakfasts were AMAZING! Nothing came out of a box...everything was home-cooked and lots of fresh cut fruit..YUM! It rained the first evening we were there and when we woke up, we were greeted with a beautiful rainbow outside our balcony! The pool and hot tub were clean and inviting and in the garage are lots of equipment to borrow such as snorkel, fins, masks, and anything else you might want for the weekend. To show you what nice people Alexis and Mike are, when I left my sweatshirt at the house, they offered to mail it to me without hesitation. I highly recommend staying here!!!

“Treated like family”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 December 2011

My husband and I stayed at Marjorie's for our honeymoon in November, and we left in complete awe of the hospitality we had just been treated to. While the rooms are pretty, the breakfasts yummy, and the view gorgeous, what we will remember most is how little we felt like paying guests merely passing through. From the moment we met the hosts, Alexis and Mike, we were handed all sorts of maps and suggestions for anything we might want to do on the island and access to a whole garage of toys we could bring along. When I woke up the first morning feeling ill, Alexis dug up everything she had that might make me feel better- natural herbal remedies, vitamin C packets, and headache medicine. When we mentioned we were going hiking, they equipped us with camel backs, granola bars, bananas, and bags of nuts. They set us up with a really great helicopter tour that fit only 2 passengers so that we might both have a window seat.

We got back later than they expected from our hiking day, and they were so worried when they couldn't get a hold of us that had we arrived any later they would have called the police to find out if any accidents had been reported. I felt so bad for making them worry, but how nice to know that they truly cared.

We were in Kauai on Thanksgiving day and asked Alexis if she knew if any local places that were doing Thanksgiving specials. After hearing this, Alexis decided on a whim to host a Thanksgiving at home for us, the other guests, and a few friends! She didn't have to do this at all. How wonderful to get to have a real Thanksgiving so far from home!

A little warning- the place is a bit tricky to find because there's no sign (intentionally)- just an unmarked mailbox. There is also a very steep driveway on which you park your car- just make sure it has really good parking brakes!
