“Great end to the vacation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 December 2010

My Fiance and I stayed at the Coral Tree room and loved it. There was a ton of space, the kitchen was well appointed, and we had a good amount of privacy. Unlike a lot of other places we had seen inland in Kauai, there was actually a good view across the valley from the room. We couldn't see the ocean from our unit (although you can from some others).

“Like Visiting Friends”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 November 2010

Nice accomodations. Tropical surroundings. Relaxed and quiet. Really enjoyed the condiments in the fridge and spices in cupboard. Many extras like beach chairs, mats, beach umbrella, and cooler. Did not appreciate being woken up by rooster at 3:40 a.m. That would be the only reason I wouldn't go back. With all the baby chicks this problem is only going to get worse. The Nene's (Canadian Geese) have been reintroduced, but the excaped chickens have no natural predators. This has to put a damper on tourism in the future. It was very rainy when we went, but the waterfalls were great and the rain is not cold.

“Quiet and Friendly”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 September 2010

We really enjoyed our stay at Hale Kua B&B. They didn't have many people there so they upgraded us to the cottage without changing the price. The owners were extremely friendly and helpful. We didn't see them much during our stay after we checked in so it felt very private and isolated which was great. The breakfast was just homemade muffins that they left for us but they were good. It was a little out of the way but it was very quiet and we slept great.

“double check!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 August 2010

I am writing to remind those purchasing your trip online with any of the dot.coms to be sure you call directly, well in advance to ensure the reservation. My husband and I landed to be told that the owners were not aware of our booking up till about a 1/2 hour before our call. Apparently, they are notified by email, but never received?! I am still not sure who's at fault here. With no room for us, they were kind enough to transfer us to another outstanding "B&B" within the immediate area. We were very well received, yet the initial greeting was awkward; not how you want to find yourself, after 12 hours of flight with no lodging in paradise. We ended up having a private, yet fantastic time at Cozy Kauai Cottage and look forward to returning. With limited experience at Hale Kua, yet in a great local, I cautiously recommend. You'll find once settled, you really can't go wrong in friendly Kauai, Mahalo!

“Perfect - beautiful, quiet, and secluded!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 July 2010

What a perfect place Hale Kua was for our family to stay while on vacation! It's secluded, yet minutes from the main east-west highway in south Kauai. Only about 20 minutes to the main city, Lihue, and less than that to reach the Poipu beaches. We stayed in the Coral Tree unit, which takes up the entire upper floor of the building. We found it to be quite spacious and clean. We loved the porch which encircles the entire unit, the extra beach towels, snorkeling equipment, and boogie boards. As the owners noted, though there is no air conditioning, in our ten days' stay we never felt the need for it - due to the location just a bit up in the hills.
