From then beginning, before we even left for our vacation we knew the owners were super nice. If we had questions about places to go hiking, take photographs, etc., Bob spent time on the phone talking to us several times. Once there, Bob his wife and their neighbor Skip who is the cook and caretaker were all genuinely really friendly. Skip is the type of retired surfer, fisherman dude with a friendly bushy mustache and calm demeanor that screams Southern California is too urban for me, I needed to move to Hawaii. The only draw back about Bob and his wife are that as nice as they are, they hover a little too much. They kept the conversation going and didn't pick up on that we wanted time alone to plan our day or just because it was 7am and we liked our alone time while enjoying coffee on the lenai. I feel bad writing this because they are so nice, but they didn't seem to stop sometimes when you wished they would. Skip is just cool, he gets it. The location is nicely positioned near that new shopping center with a very expensive gourmet deli (good), a Bubba burger, but most importantly a LAPPERT'S! Love their ice cream. The drawback that we were disappointed with is that the B&B is right on the road, not setback at all. At night and in the morning you hear cars and trucks as it is one of the main roads to get to some big resorts, that was a bummer. Also, the rooms overlook the front porch and if someone is sitting outside, you hear everything - there isn't any a/c to muffle the sound. If you hang out in the afternoon, it got very hot with only the fans going. That being said, we were there in July. Tour room was also right on the driveway so it is not like we looked at anything nice. Lastly, mand this was a HUGE problem, every morning around 4am the local roosters would start cock-a-doodle-do. As the morning progressed, more and more roosters would join in. What made matters worse is that there is an apartment building next door with a little wooded area against the driveway and many of the roosters rooster there overnight. If we hadn't been on East Coast time, getting up at 3-4 am wouldn't have been very pleasant. The roosters would make this racket until about 7am when the sun would be up. This sucked because we'd be so tired from the noise we sometimes fell back asleep when we wanted to really be getting up. The giant mango tree on the property is cool. The banana trees are really cool to see up close. Bob knows a lot about the plants, we enjoyed him showing us around the small yard while he explained the flora.
