We stayed in a 2 bedroom unit. I was really happy with it and would happily stay again. It had pool, hot tub, bbq, comfortable sunbathing, great tidepools and beautiful view. Close to food, groceries and 5 minutes away from snorkeling and boogie board/surfing. A car is mandatory in Kauai. We generally don't spend a lot of time indoors except for eating and sleeping. The kitchen as comfortable for cooking and had everything we needed, unlike many others that we'd tried. It isn't the Hyatt, but certainly better than most average hotels like the Hilton or Best Westerns. Other family members had the one bedroom unit and they seems fine as well, although much smaller and no washer dryer. I didn't feel like they were nickel and dime-ing us with every little thing (except internet). Note, it isn't safe to swim in the water in front of the hotel because of currents (most of Kapaa is this way). I'd also highly recommend a copy of the Ultimate Kauai guide.

We had an amazing stay at Kappa Shores. The staff were very accommodating and welcoming. The grounds and the pool are attended to daily. The view is beautiful and although the beachfront is not a swimming beach, it is gorgeous. Easy drive to several beaches in the area for swimming, snorkeling and body surfing. Kealia beach was our personal favorite. The bbq area is popular and it was nice to have. We appreciated the poolside seated massage on our last day, a perfect ending to a perfect vacation. We stayed on the ground floor in a 1 bedroom. The room was well stocked with towels, fully stocked kitchen, bedding and nice TV's with many channels/DVD player. The murphy bed was handy, but not that comfortable, that would be our 1 and only complaint. We definitely plan to return to Kappa Shore on our next visit.

We stayed in a one bedroom suite there with a great view of the ocean. The moon was full the first few days we were there and it looked so beautiful - almost fake. The beds are not that comfortable but the view and sounds of the ocean make up for it. We actually ended up sleeping in the living room every night on the murphy bed because we wanted the view of the ocean.

We enjoyed a recent 8 day stay for our daughter's wedding ceremony that was held at Poipu Beach this January. There were a total of 17 of us staying in four of the condos at Kapaa Shores. We found our own oceanfront room on the second floor outstanding. The decor of bamboo furniture was delightful and the rooms were spacious and clean. We found the front desk always helpful and pleasant.
The lawn that runs in front of the beach (which is awesome from a geological perspective because it is from a lava flow) is beautiful with many lounge chairs and tall palms line it. On the beach are black lava rocks that are striking. Although this beach is not good for swimming, there are several beaches within 5 minutes among the best that we found were Kealia Beach, Wailau Bay, and Lydgate Beach Park.
We enjoyed watching the sunrises from our deck and the hot tub and pool stay open until 10 p.m. Kapaa Shores is also close to several stores and restaurants. It is actually central to driving to the North Shore beaches and also down to the South beaches like Poipu.
