We have just got back from 2 weeks in hawaii. we spent a week in honolulu, and had a super time. the second week was to be spent at the lae nani in kuaui. Well...........we lasted 3 nights! It was just awful, we had a beachfront condo, which i have to say the view was amazing, but the condo itself was filthy! it smelt really stale and of mothballs, so much so we didnt want to unpack as we didnt want the smell to stick to our clothes! my husband opened a drawer in the living area and found several pairs of ladies g string underpants! the condo is full of clutter, cushions, lamps etc which just gather the dust. cockroaches in the kitchen, towels which smelt and could only be used once as they smelt even worse after use!!! uncomfortable pillows, the bed sheets smelt stale, dirty skirting boards, flithy carpet.
The reception staff wernt great either, they work from 11am until 3pm. after that you are pretty much on your own. Rennee in particular was most unpleasant and unhelpful. We told her we would be cutting our stay down and could she have all our paperwork ready for us to leave at 11.30 the next day as we have to catch a flight back to honolulu. she told us she would be there at 11am when the office opened. she didnt bother to turn up until 11.25, the taxi was waiting and we had to call a nearby castle hotel for them to contact her for her to come and open up the office and check us out of the hotel. She only works for 4 hours as it is!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so we nearly missed our flight.
also Rennee didnt go through out final bill at check out with us, and just went ahead and charged all sorts of things to our debit card even though we paid cash. all in all we had over £1000($2000) of charges to our debit card which shouldnt have been charged at all.
We would go back to Kuaui, but never stay here again, and we most definately wouldnt recommend it to anyone. its miles away from anywhere and you definately need a car to get around. In fact we will never use castle hotels again if this is the standard they set!!
