“An Amazing Home Away From Home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 July 2010

My husband and I recently spent two wonderful weeks with another couple at this condo, and were so happy that we did. What you see in the pictures is what you get and more. This is well maintained, clean, beautifully furnished and fully stocked. I'm not talking about a few necessities, I'm talking about having EVERYTHING you would have in your own home. It was truly like a home away from home. The most wonderful part of this rental is the location. Every morning, we would open the sliders and the cool ocean breezes, and sounds of the birds and ocean waves would fill all of our senses. It is so nice to be able to step out on the porch in your robe and in the morning like you would at home, or eat breakfast or dinner out on the porch with the waves crashing down below. There is even a family of sea turtles that live right there. Shawn was a wonderful person to work with, extremely flexible, and the price was just great. We found this to be a perfect central location for seeing all of the island. We will definitely be back! I had to mark the sleep quality down a bit, as there is no air conditioning (only fans), and it got quite hot at night, particularly in the 2nd bedroom. It was a small price to pay for such a wonderful experience.

“Terrific get away”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2007

A friend of mine recommended Hale Awapuhi to my family. We loved it. It is a very small complex, and we felt like we had the whole place to ourselves! The turtles swim up every morning and we could watch the whales in the distance. There were lots of places we could walk to and eat and play. We had a great time and can't wait to return.

“Fraud! Scam!!!”

We made reservations and PAID in FULL on January 19th for our April 13th reservation. On March 11th, the hotel called to move us to another hotel of "equal" quality. After researching their alternative, we discovered it was definitely not equal - quite inferior. Now, 1 month before our date of arrival we had to find another location. This wasn't easy since many places were already booked. To obtain equal (as best as we can tell) accomodations, we needed to pay an additional $600. Now they tell us it can take about 30 days before they will give us our money back. So, as far as I can tell Castle Hale Awapuhi borrows your money free of charge and leaves you in a bad situation. I spoke with Client Services from Expedia (we booked through them) about this situation. Expedia told us that this is becoming quite a problem because of its frequency.

Our advice: don't risk your reservations to the "Castle" organization. In addition, send them a message that this fraudulent behaior will not be tolerated by not giving them your business. If our experience isn't enough to convince you, continue searching the internet about the "Castle" organization (i.e. Castle Hale, Castle Poipu Shores Resort, Castle Lae Nani, etc.) there are many other reported occassions of this scam.

Good luck!
