“Excellent, you won't get better for the $”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 September 2008

Great Place - We spent one night - good price for the quality of the place. The suite was roomy, clean and easily accessible, We were pleasantly suprised, room was fully equiped right down to beach chairs and complimentary coffee... Only problem was for some reason the pool was closed the day we were there, and for anyone with little ones the pool is across the road from the resort so you need to drive or at least be prepared for a little hike. You Can't go wrong with this place. Dax - Toronto Canada

“We spent our honeymoon here”

I had to write a review when I saw the Plantation Retreat on here. We stayed there the Summer of 2003 so it has been awhile and who knows how much has changed.
The one tip I wanted to give is to have your bug spray ready when you get there. It is gorgeous and you will probably go on a tour with the owner or on your own. Our first day there we did the self-guided tour (minus the bug spray) and the bugs almost ate us alive. My husband and I each had over 40 bites before we stopped counting. The bug spray (with deet) seemed to help but by then I was all bitten up. So forget the fancy lotions or perfumes and invest in mosquito repellant with deet.
The property was beautiful and lots of fun to explore. Our only negative (that might have changed by now) was that the cottage (It was the one with the tree growing through the bathroom) had an outdoors bathroom we had to use. It was scary to have to leave the cottage and use the restroom outside in the middle of the jungle.
It was a great deal and fits perfect for the couple into adventure over luxury.

“Quiet, secluded paradise”

My husband and I were looking for a small, romantic and private place to spend our honeymoon. We are NOT into the bigtime hotels and privacy was our number one concern. I found this place on the internet, booked it and off we went. we spent two weeks in this paradise. The owner gave us a number to get a discounted rate on our rent-a-car, gave us great directions and was on site to welcome us to our bungalow. There is a main house and 3 bungalows on site....we stayed in the biggest bungalow. It was very nice and comfortable. It had a kitchen with small refrigerator and hot plate...(I cooked scrambled eggs almost every morning) and the bungalow was very cool. It was very very quiet...you could hear all the jungle animals and insects all night and in the morning...very nice! The owner was extremely pleasant and gave us a personal tour of his entire plantation which included a private swimming hole and waterfall. There were also mini trails to hike around his place. The owner also provided kayaks, bicycles, boogie boards and even loaned us many or his personal VHS movies from his extensive movie library to watch on those quiet nights. Kapaa is centrally located so you are also close to Poipu and Princeville....great beach for boogieboarding and surfing closeby. The best thing...is that the owner gladly gave us advice as to where the best hikes were...best food to eat...and of course to go to the farmer;s market and get the best papayas!!! We ate sooo many of them! I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to find peace and quiet....and who isn't looking to party the night away....
