“Outstanding B&B”

My wife and I spent six nights at Dilly Dally House and every day was excellent. We were delayed for one day because of a storm, and were not charged for the first night. When we arrived Diane was waiting for us with chocolate-covered strawberries. We stayed in the Suite, which was very spacious, clean and overlooking the pool and lush yard. The room consisted of two rooms (sitting room and bedroom) and a very nice bathroom. There was excellent drawer space, closet space, and every amenity you could wish for. The breakfasts, mostly prepared by Justine, were outstanding (a bit high-carb, but excellent). Every morning we had a different fresh (some home-grown) fruit, meat, and/or eggs/pancakes, etc. Justine knows the local environment and is very willing to share her thoughts.
Everything about the place was inviting. The yard was meticulously cared for, the pool was very clean--every detail was considered.
The sight was about 5-6 miles outside of Kapa'a, in a family oriented neighborhood. It was very quiet, and a welcome respite from the traffic (more than I expected, but nothing compared to East Coast standards) in the town.
Overall, I would highly recommend this place. One of the nicest B&Bs that my wife and I have visited.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Suite (which was excellent); I would also consider the cottage. I didn't see th...

“Awesome!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

This place was amazing. We came here for our honeymoon back in October 2008. It was absolutely beautiful. A great room with a little sitting area and it had a nice basket full of goodies when we got there! The innkeepers were sooo nice, prepared an amazing breakfast, gave us ideas on where to go for the day, let us borrow their snorkels, fantastic! It's a little bit out of the way but we didn't mind since we liked the idea of being more off to ourselves!

“A wonderful place to call "home" in Kauai”

I stayed at the Dilly Dally House in late January / early February and had a wonderful experience. The Dilly Dally House is situated 10 minutes from Kapaa, located almost halfway between the North Shore and South Shore. In my opinion, perfectly situated to explore the island's many sights and sounds.

Upon arrival, Pat, the owner, welcomed me and gave me a nice tour of the property. Every guest is given a copy of the "blue book"--sort of the ultimate guide to Kauai. Keep this book and use it--it has the best info.

I stayed at the Cottage, which I loved. It's like having your own home. Pat and Diane are excellent hosts and have literally thought of everything you need and more. My room had all the accoutrements I needed, including a beach bag with two towels and a red cooler. I had a little toaster oven, coffee-maker, plates, glasses, spoons, forks. On top of that, I had not one but two flat screen televisions with blu ray DVD and Direct TV. If I have one regret, it's that I didn't get to spend as much time as I'd like lazily enjoying the indoors.

Outside of the Cottage, the house supplies guests with the latest DVDs. At the time of my visit, this included movies like "The Help", "The Debt", "50/50", "Ides of March" and "Moneyball". An iPad is accessible if you need to access your e-mail. There are drawers of accessories including bug spray, SPF lotion, games and other stuff I never realized I needed. The grilling area includes wet shoes, boogie boards and fishing rods. There's even a laundry room specifically for guests. After a muddy hike, it came in very handy.

The breakfasts are BEYOND delicious. In fact, we were so well-fed at breakfast that lunch wasn't quite needed. They typically do sweet one day and savory the next. Savory dishes are usually accompanied by fresh-baked goods. Sweet dishes are served with three kinds of syrup--coconut, pineapple and maple. Fresh juices are a staple, so is coffee.

Pat, Diane and Justine are great hosts. Never intrusive but there when needed.

Finally, I had the best time getting to know my fellow guests. Breakfast conversation was always fun, interesting and full of humor.

I look forward to my next stay at the Dilly Dally House.

Tips and other things to note:
- The house is actually fairly easy to find, but if you are not great with directions or don't have GPS on your car, make sure to follow directions that come with your reservations.
- If you are the type of person who wants to have room service and vegetate in an insulated mega-resort style environment, this is not the place for you.
- If you want to have the perfect blend of a great place to rest/chill and a place that encourages you to get out and explore the beautiful Garden Island, this is the BEST place to stay.

Room Tip: The Cottage is awesome

“Excellent place for a home base while visiting Kauai!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

My husband and I stayed in the studio in the main house. While the location is off the beaten path, that is what makes it such a beautiful, peaceful place to stay! You can drive to the beach, shops, etc., then head back for some rest and relaxation. The breakfasts were delicious and most of the time we didn't even need lunch, which allowed for more time to explore. The owner and staff were very friendly and had great info on good places to go. They really went out of their way by supplying a welcome basket with wonderful treats, laundry facilities, beach towels, cooler, umbrellas, first aid items, sunblock, bugspray...the list goes on! The pool area was also a plus, very nice and refreshing! Thanks for providing such a friendly fantastic place to stay! Belly rubs for Ginger also!

“Amazing!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

My husband and I spent half of our honeymoon here in the Cottage. I highly recommend this place; it is really perfect. The hosts are friendly, the breakfast is amazing, and the accommodations are fantastic. Little details that other places might skimp on; quality of towels, decorations, etc, were not ignored here. The Cottage was especially nice because of the outdoor shower- very romantic, but also very private. I'm hoping to go back!

Room Tip: If you want a more secluded place to stay, get the Cottage. It's a separate building entirely.
