My friend and I stayed here for our 60th birthdays and we were very impressed. Sheila was a gracious host and made our visit very enjoyable. She had some food items there for us when we arrived and was very helpful and knew the beautiful island well. We liked having local books and restaurant menus avaialble so we could choose where to go. I would certainly go back as it was nice to have a home away from home atmosphere.

As a solo traveler looking for a peaceful base camp for my first trip to Kauai, I made the perfect choice in staying here. I found Laka's Garden to be very clean and well maintained, including everything needed for my 3-day stay. In a lush quiet residential setting at the end of a cul-de-sac, I started every morning with the island breeze, ocean view, and bird song. Sheila was very helpful in helping me to discover great hiking & photo opportunities in the north coast / Hanalei , and Waimea / Kokee areas. I hope to be a return visitor.

The whole place was beautiful and immaculate -- Sheila was warm and welcoming and showed outstanding hospitality. I especially appreciated that we could borrow their swim fins, boogie boards and beach towels for when we went to the beach. The breakfasts were wonderful with lots of choices. We had a great time!

The most enjoyable vacation in my life, actually relaxed and had more fun then I anticipated I would. Sheila gave me idea's for activities to enjoy, places to eat, while allowing me to feel relaxed during my stay at her beautiful home on the second floor. I was able to get pictures of the rare Monk Seal on second day, other unique pictures by hiking trails, and a fly around island as the co-pilot with Capt. Bruce (Wings over Kauai), that was special, the highlight of trip. Made new friends in Kauai,... most important part of all.
