“Looks Better Than It Is”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2012

people found this review helpful

We stayed in a gorgeous, spacious two-bedroom villa for two days. Despite its fine looks, though, the villa was not particularly well-equipped or comfortable (little kitchen gear, hard pillows, no beach things, squeaky twin beds with ill-fitting sheets, too few ceiling fans to provide adequate air circulation, etc.). The wifi was only free at the pool, and the daily wifi rate only accommodated one device. The location is also far from ideal. It was fine for two days, but we would not have wanted to make a week or two of it. We spent the rest of our two-week stay in a ocean-front condo at the Keahou-Kona Surf & Racquet Club which was far superior in every way, except perhaps the high-end appearance.

Thank you for your business dkckekmk. Appreciate the kind words on the review too. We are a quiet, clean, beautiful little spot in the middle of the fields of lava. We are close to shopping, dining, and so much great golf.... The Big Island has a couple of things going on you cannot find anywhere else in the world. The Volcano and the best place to view stars on the planet.... The 2 nicest beaches anywhere are 10 minutes from our front gate. We hope you will return. If we can be of any service - you can contact me directly.

Aloha Indianapolis Indiana,

Thank you for your business. Thank you for your kind review and recommendation to future guests. You are right - every room is decorated differently. The thing is - most people only sleep in the rooms here because there is so much to do on The Big Island. So the rooms seem to be less critical for guests than at other properties. Still - all of our units have wireless internet, a Play Station 2 with free movies and games at the Front Office, a great kitchen and plenty of space to spread out! I was in the main pool area last night (product testing!) after dark. The hot tub was full and the pool was just unbelievable - comfortable, clean and under a night sky filled with stars and planets like you could not imagine.

We try our best - I have never worked with a bunch of nicer people. We hope you will return.

“One week in paradise...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 December 2011

Great property, quiet and secluded yet close to shopping and restaurants. Many excellent beaches within a short drive. The unit (two bedroom) was spacious, clean and beautifully appointed. Carpet could use cleaning (white in a rental unit??) otherwise perfectly maintained. Management and staff very friendly and accommodating right from day one.

We can hardly wait for our next stay here and would recommend this property without hesitation.

Aloha One Week in Paradise,

Thank you for your business and kind words about our property. We appreciate the input and i'd like to check the carpet out in your unit if we can get some reference on what number unit that was. We try our best and many units have changed out the carpet. Each unit is individually owned and decorated but we do our best to deliver great service to every guest.

The Waikoloa Resort area and Waikoloa Colony Villas are situated in the place in Hawaii with the best weather, the kindest residents and the coolest things to do. An active volcano, a super place to view stars and the heavens with the largest telescope on Earth not far from our property, and the best beaches in the world only a few minutes away - if you don't have a great time here - it's your fault!

We'd be happy to have you back. And please tell your friends about us! If we can be of any service please feel free to contact me.

“We had a great weekend stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 December 2011

We stayed in a spacious three bedroom condo that was clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful from the time we got there to the time we left. The pool/jacuzzi was very close by and we also had close access to a barbeque grill. The villa met all of our needs and we definitely recommend it to anyone that is looking for a quiet, relaxing place to stay in Waikoloa.

Mahalo "We had a great weekend stay",

We appreciate your business and your kind words on this revew. Waikoloa is a special place and we try our best to deliver a super product and great service. There are a couple of things you can count on when you visit even for a weekend - the sunshine, the staff's smilng faces and the greatest night skies anywhere. Even though the volcano is on the other side of the Island - with all of the activity now it is a must see. And the summit of Mauna Kea becons from our very entryway and my office every day.

Please tell your friends and return when you get a chance.

If we can be of any service please feel free to contact me directly.

“Nice place, but quiet and no beach”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 December 2011

We stayed in a 1 bedroom suite for a week while on the Big Island. The suite was well appointed with a nice kitchen, living area & full bathroom as well as laundry facilities downstairs. The bedroom was upstairs along with a master bathroom and huge walk in closet.
However, after spending a week on right the beach in Maui, we found staying in this resort on the Big Island like moving back to suburbia. In fact if you did not know you were on the Big island, you could have been in the middle of anywhere, so if you like it to be busier, this is not the place for you. The resort is on a golf course, however the way the units are laid out, most do not have any sort of view.
It is about a mile from the local beach, so not within walking distance and there are other beaches in the area to explore.
My wife & I were by ourselves here and I think this would be a better place more suited to a larger group.

Thank you for your business Roger,

Waikoloa Colony Villas is a quiet little spot. A lot of people like the feeling of not being in a busy place and the security of a gated resort. I can understand how you could conceive of us as suburbia because after being on the beach in Maui - that's a hard act to follow and we are a short walk to a local beach. We recommend taking a short drive to the two best beaches in Hawaii about 10 minutes away.

I lived on Maui in a resort for 5 years - right on the beach. Impossible to beat that but most hotel rooms in the Islands (about 95%) do not have ocean front or ocean view locations. Those rooms of course come at a premiuim price. But having lived on all the Islands I find Hapuna Beach and the beach at Mauna Kea to be the best beaches in Hawaii.

We are glad that you liked the unit you stayed in. The most common comment about our rooms is how spacious and clean they are. Each one is decorated individually so the "looks" are kinda unique too. But when you are here on this Island - the room should be the least of your concerns: The Holy Mountain and second tallest in the world has over 10 huge telescopes on the summit which is easily reachable from our property and the volcano on the slopes of the tallest mountain on the planet at Mauna Loa is just indescribable. Besides those attractions we have 5 National Parks on the Island, hiking, shopping, dining and a manta ray night trip you can't get anywhere else well.... there is no place like The Big Island.

And we appreciate your review - it gives an honest depiction of your experience and helps guests consider us an an option and what we offer. The lava fields we are surrounded by are not the ocean but a unique feature just the same. I'd say it's kinda like being in a barbeque grill but when the light hits these just right - there is no view like it on earth. And we get little rain here (only about 5 inches a year) so if people are looking for sunshine - come on over!

Roger, again - thank you for everything. And if you decide to "get away" to the solitude we offer on property just give me a call.

With Aloha,
