My husband and I stayed here for one night, our main purpose was to have a place close to Volcanoes National Park so we could stay late and maybe do some night viewing. We were able to check-in early at about 10:15am, we were just hoping to be able to store our bags at the main office but turns out the room (Mohalapua Room) was ready. The main office was very easy to find and so was the Lokahi Lodge, the clerk gave us directions and gave us a map with the directions drawn out too.
When we checked in housekeeping was cleaning the main part of the lodge and we basically dropped off our bags and headed to the park. The room though was clean, except there was no soap in the bathroom (there was lotion though), we did have our own soap though. The beds were hard (but I loved that) and the pillows were fine. The tv in the room had a lot of channels (important to my husband). The lodge was nice and quiet for sleeping.
The main part of the lodge was clean and spacious. The living room area had some games, magazines, and books, as well as a computer that we could use to access the internet (it was a little slow though). The kitchen was big and had all the tools you would need for cooking, and a nice big dinning room table. We did use the hot tub at night after the night viewing at the Jagger Museum (awesome) and that was clean too and relaxing. The lodge was just a couple minutes drive to the park (if that) and was close to the places to eat in Volcano. Both my husband and I wished we had planned for more time to stay here and agreed that it would be a good place have a large group stay.
By the way, we did eat at Kiawe Kitchen for dinner and it was decent and Kilauea Lodge for breakfast and that was decent too.
