“delightful!”

We recently spent a night at the Lokahi Lodge and were extremely pleased. Loved the intimacy, yet private rooms. We decided to forgo eating out and cooked some steaks there, had some wine, and enjoyed the setting. I think the other rooms were full, but we had friendly, but little, contact with people.
Easy location for visiting the volcano, only a few minutes away.
Beautiful hardwood carved furniture, lots of reading material, spacious common area.
since they had called this their "moderate" accommodation, I hadn't expected it to be so nice. Immaculately clean. We had the Makalapua room and bed was very comfortable, and the humidifier kept us comfy. Lots of logs at the fireplace too. Really had the sense of deep dedication and caring from the owners and staff. Highly recommend the $6 breakfast. We had to go to the main lodge for it, but was definitely worth it. Endless trays of fruit and fresh pastries, and a nice atmosphere.
If you plan to stay here and cook, shop before Volcano. Little market by the Kiawe Kitchen was VERY expensive. Kiawe Kitchen had good lunch fare.
Last suggestion - the Kileau Iki hike is long, but fun! You go through a small crater and lots f rain forest. Steep path at the end so should be in good condition.

Room Tip: Never heard out neighbors and ours was first in the hall way. Makalapua Room. All rooms have an in...

“Family Holiday”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2012

Our family stayed in the Naupaka Room and had a lovely stay. The loft area was very convenient for our family of five with small children. The room and lodge were clean and very welcoming. The location was unbelievable as it is only a short drive to the National Park and other conveniences such as gas and food. I would definitely return and stay longer if we are to return to the island for a vacation!!

“Great location right near national park”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 December 2011

We wanted to stay near the volcano national park so that we wouldn't have to drive back to Kona that night. As the town name, Volcano, implies, this place is just a couple miles from the park. The property itself was beautiful with all the trees and flowers of the rain forest. We enjoyed the scenery while we used the outdoor hot tub. The room was clean and cozy. Would definitely stay there again.

“Very clean, awesome "community" area. Hard bed.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 October 2011

There is a firm mattress, an extra firm mattress, the floor, and then the bed in the Olena Room. OMG!! We had to sit in the hot tub for 1/2 hour just to try to relieve the terrible, back, hip and shoulder pain my husband and I got from TRYING to sleep here. However, the room and bathroom were clean, but old and small, it had a hot tub, the people were nice, and the common area with living room, fireplace and kitchen were very nice. Warning-- if you must dry your hair--the hair dryer is set on "low" so it doesn't blow a fuse and takes forever so leave time for that.

“Excellent staff, service, property, and location!”

I flew my brother to Hawaii for a graduation present and I chose to stay at the Lokahi Lodge in Volcano Village. I had previously stayed in Chalet Kailua properties because of the excellent value and customer service. They have yet to let me down. We had one of the corner rooms in the lodge. The room was very clean, spacious, and comfortable. The check in and check out process was quick and easy too. There's not much within walking distance, but you are very close to a good Thai restaurant, Lava Rock Cafe, and Volcano National Park. I highly recommend staying here and am planning another trip in the not too distant future.
