“One of the best B&B on Hawaii”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012 via mobile

We recently stayed here to be close to Volcano National Park. Perfect location, secluded and very quiet. Close to the park and restraunts on Old Volcano Rd. We stayed in the Wild Orchid room and thoroughly enjoyed it. The room was beautifully decorated and very cozy. Gary and Kathy were gracious hosts. We enjoyed having great morning conversations with them. Where else can you get a papaya boat for breakfast. When we visit Hawaii we will definitely stay here again. Thanks Kathy and Gary!

“Tranquil and pleasing to the senses!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

The approach to the cottage is glorious - amazingly lush rainforrest drive and easy to find. Once there, we were greeted promptly by the groundskeeper, Kathy, and shown to the Enchanted Forrest Room (updated since photos here were taken - even better now), where we stayed 2 nights. The facilities were all very clean and linens fresh, which are critical for a pleasant stay anywhere. The bed and pillows were perfect for my finicky body and neck! We liked the separateness of that room from the rest of the house, esp. the private balcony overlooking the forrest - the birds were as delighted and excited about being there as we were. My husband loved sitting downstairs on the comfortable veranda furniture drinking his wine while reading his kindle, relaxing in the cool air of the altitude and smelling the musky perfumes of rainforrest surrounding the place. Hot tub and breakfast were great treats as well. Having a fireplace in the room was completely romantic and cozy - leave the kids at home! :)

Room Tip: The Enchanted Forrest is probably the best room since it is separate from the house with private bal...

“Best B&B ever! Stay here-you won't be disappointed!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

Bamboo orchid cottage was incredible! My friends and I really enjoyed our time here! The rooms were comfortable and cozy (each had a fireplace) and there was a jacuzzi outside on the patio! The innkeeper was very sweet and helpful with recommendations and anything we needed and she made a great breakfast with papaya boats filled with yogurt! Please stay here if you're looking for a lovely experience near the

“A lovely treat!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

We enjoyed meeting Kathy and felt right at home here. Our room (Royal Orchid) was absolutely breathtaking! I could not have decorated it better. Breakfast had a convivial atmosphere and yes - the Papaya boats rock!

Many outdoor areas to sit and relax. We also found it a very convenient location - just minutes to Volcanoes National Park.

Room Tip: Royal Orchid had a separate entrance porch, electric fireplace and in room jacuzzi.

“great paradise retreat”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2012

This b&b is a conveniently located, well run but above all friendly place to crash on the Big Island. Kathy, the innkeeper is a gracious host who is very helpful and puts together a great breakfast. be aware that the State of Hawaii forbids hot food prepared by the b&b. Kathy makes the most of it with a sumptuous fruit entree. Located in Volcano it is 5 minutes from the Park, 25 minutes from Hilo and 2 hours from Kona Coast. We stayed 3 nights and will go back if going to the Big Island.
