Stayed at the Haunani House (Hale Haunani) in Volcano Village for 2 nights at the end of a weeks stay on Oahu and the Big Island. We were lucky to have 3 wonderful accomodations during our trip (all due to positive TA reviews). This very comfortable and cozy house in a residential area is about 2 miles from the Volcanoes National Park entrance, which was our destination after staying in the Kohala area. The area is rain forest and at about 4000 feet altitude, so it can be cool and rainy. The house has a nice gas stove in the living area that warms the whole house. The furnishings are very pleasant, and the place is SPOTLESS (!!!) with three lovely bedrooms that have very comfortable beds with comforters and great pillows. One bedroom has its own bath with shower. The other bath is large with a jacuzzi tub (!) which was used every night (great after hiking all day). The kitchen was open with the living area which made for nice conversation while making dinner. The yard is filled with tropical plants and pine trees. Todd, the owner, lives next door and was cheerful and accomodating. Reservation required a $100 deposit (personal check) and was $160/night plus tax for 3 people (pay by cash or check). Volcano Village is small, and we did not eat out while there, but hear that the Lodge has great food. The park is fascinating and definitely worth the visit. Mahalo!
