Our first visit to Hawaii couldn't have been a better experience! We enjoyed our hosts and felt like friends upon departure. This couple loves what they're doing that's for sure. Both of them have fun personalities and complement each other well! Drew & Nice shared valuable information about the surrounding area and took the time and care into making sure we knew our way around. We stayed here for one night recently on a trip to the National Park. Overall, we were happy with our stay, especially for the price. The house and room were spotlessly clean, and the room was spacious with a balcony overlooking the surrounding jungle and local pheasants. The location is unbeatable, just around the corner from a pretty good restaurant and general store and only a mile or so from the park.The hosts were friendly and helpful.

At the same time, it was clear that the hosts are cutting some corners. Soon after we arrived, they began arguing because he was feeding the pheasants that visit their yard and thus wasting their precious bread and crackers. The hostess also made several comments about how they were struggling financially, and made it clear they had some conflict with the absentee owner (the hosts tend the house but do not own it) about how the place was run. The conversation felt a bit inappropriate.

Here is one small example of their frugality: shampoo and bath soap were provided in refillable plastic bottles hand marked H for hair and B for body, which might have been ok but the bottles were stiff and it took a minute to get a useful amount out of each bottle.

The other main drawback was that breakfast was not provided other than coffee and a half papaya. The price was cut by 10% to compensate us, but Volcano is not a place with a lot of breakfast options and we found it annoying to have to pack up and leave in order to find something to eat.

I loved my stay with hosts Drew & Nice! They were so warm, gracious and friendly that I'll be back! The inn was spotless and inviting. I travel quite a bit and have found this couple to be loving what they do and that to me is what sets innkeepers apart from others. This couple is first class and from the friendly aloha check in to hugs at the end of my stay is something I'll always remember...thanks Drew & Nice!

We stayed here for one night during our trip to the Volcanoes National Park. Our hosts were very friendly and helpful and the room was clean. The setting is lovely, like a rainforest and very peaceful.
We were a bit disappointed with the breakfast, which we felt was inadequate. We had to purchase breakfast elsewhere as what was provided was more like a snack.
Overall, we felt like something was lacking with this place. We felt we wouldn't rush back here, but trying to pinpoint the exact problem is difficult, because there were lots of positives.
