This was unquestionably the loveliest place we have ever stayed. Nestled in the green serenity of the tropical forest, this is a Hawaiian oasis away from the world. The attention to detail was amazing: soft cozy robes, a fireplace for cool nights, beautifully tasteful architecture and décor, a hot tub amid the dripping palms, a skylight to watch the stars come out, and a pair of kind and charming hosts who did everything possible to make our stay perfect! Our cottage was immaculately clean and the breakfasts were delicious and plentiful. Truly a romantic gem!

My husband and I recently stayed here for 5 nights. We spent the first half of our visit on the other side of the island and finished with 5 nights on this side of the island. If you are looking for a peaceful place to relax and escape, then this is the place for you. We stayed in the Bamboo Guest House. This place was perfect for privacy and space. We did a lot of relaxing at the house after full days of adventures. Kathleen and Peter thought of many details to add in the house...flash lights for lava tube hikes, umbrellas for unpredictable weather, and the kitchen was fully stocked with pots and dishes. Upon check-in, Kathleen spent time with us discussing the area and some recommendations of "must sees." They both gave us a very warm welcome and plenty of privacy for the remainder of our stay. We loved having the breakfast basket delivered in the afternoon for the next morning. This allowed us flexibility with our plans...no commitment to a specific time for serving breakfast. The fruit was fresh and the quiche was delicious. Overall a wonderful stay.

We stayed for two nights in the Forest House and it was really special. Nothing like waking up and all you see is jungle around you. I felt like I was on a movie set. The owner's attention to detail is amazing. It really feels like home away from home while you are there. The only thing I would have wanted different would have been a King sized bed. We had a hard time sleeping in a Queen bed. Other than that - you won't be dissapointed.

We just stayed in the Sanctuary for 4 nights. What a restful and relaxing experience. The big island has so much to do and see particularly around the Volcano National park and after a full days of hiking and exploring we would eagerly race home ( a quick 5 min drive from the park entrance). The details and extra touches are everywhere- the delicious breakfasts, great pillows and bed, a perfectly steaming hot soaking tub , a stunning 360 view of the rainforest and a blissful overall sense of being. This place was made with love! One of my favorites places to stay ever!!! Very cozy and romantic for two and/or great for a solo retreat!
