This property is amazing. Your hosts are great and very nice people who will help you with anything. Be prepared to share a home with them - if you decide not to stay here, however, you will miss the nicest and cleanest room we have seen in the US. With warm blankets :-) You can order whatever you like for breakfast and when eating it your hosts will give you information aout what to do in the Big Island and how to do it. In addition, the property is in the Volcano village very close to Hawaii Volcanoes NP.

Overall this place served its purpose, which was having a cheap place to stay to go to Volcano national park for one night. It was clean and the owners were very nice. The rule about not allowing alcohol on the premises is a little lame but if you're only there for one night it's tolerable.

We stayed here from late August to early September in 2010, while visiting Volcanoes National Park. The bed and breakfast is close to the park, much closer than the places in Hilo we had originally considered. The hosts, Ray and Lani, were friendly and helpful. While we ate the simple breakfasts they prepared, they enthusiastically shared interesting stories about their lives and experiences. (I agree with other reviewers that the breakfasts are simple and relatively small, but they often offered us seconds. I was usually full at the end of breakfast.) Ray and Lani truly seemed to care about our comfort.

I had perhaps the best five nights of sleep of my entire life while we were there! When we weren't talking, it was absolutely silent. I have never been in a quieter place. The bed was among the most comfortable on which I have slept in my entire life. The scenery was serene: horses and wild goats in pastures, surrounded by rainforest.

Note to those trying to "get away from it all": We received no cellphone reception (TMobile) and had extremely poor internet access on our computers.

During our honey-moon-trip to three hawaiian islands we stayed here for two nights and enjoyed a lot. The place is really quite, as the name suggests. But it's just a couple of minutes drive to the National Park, to some restaurants and so on. The owner was a really nice lady and we enjoyed our conversation. We would go here again and advise it also to our friends.
