“Beautiful and quiet - Vacation Internationale Sea Mountain”

We stayed at Sea Mountain for part of our trip because we spent multiple days in the south end of the island. A day trip to Volcanoes is not enough!! There is so much to see on the southern end of the island.

Sea Mountain is a good location between Kona and Volcanoes, but much closer to Volcanoes. It's in an isolated area, but that keeps it quiet. It's just down the road from a black sand beach, where we saw turtles on the beach. There's a great shoreline hike at the beach too.

The lodging could use some updating, but it was clean and spacious. We stayed in a 2BR, so there was a bedroom downstairs and one upstairs. If you go when it's hot, there is no air conditioning. However, we were there in August and it cooled down perfectly at night. There are ceiling fans in most rooms and window slats that can be opened for air flow.

We had a very good rate for booking through our vacation ownership at the last minute, so it was still a great value.

Overall, we like the location and were happy with the lodging, but an update would certainly be welcome.

“Relaxing Paradise”

My husband and I took our five-year-old daughter to Sea Mountain to "get away from it all," and boy, did we! The resort was beautiful! Although it is an older resort, the grounds and buildings are kept up beautifully!! We rarely ever saw another person, except while enjoying the beautiful (AND VERY, VERY COLD) pool and hot tub or while BBQing. We were a little worried that our daughter would get bored, but she did not. We spent every morning playing at the beautiful black sand beach, watching the turtles and playing in the tide pools. We would return to the resort and cook lunch in our unit afterwards heading to the pool area to relax. The weather was cooler and in the afternoon, so we enjoyed the hot tub. Our daughter played in the pool a bit, but never for long as it was so cold. In the evenings we would enjoy dinner on our lanai, while looking out on the ocean. We played golf on the Sea Mountain golf course and were greatly dissappointed. Although it has the potential to be a great course, it was in really bad shape. All in all, we enjoyed our vacation and would happily return to the Sea Mountain.

“Nice Escape”

Sea Mountain is an older resort, but kept up fairly well the grounds are well kept and clean. The golf coarse has dried up. The rooms are clean, the resort is quiet. We had a great view of the ocean from our room. The only problem with the resort is that there is not anyplace to eat and there is no night life. The nearest place to eat is about 20 minutes in either direction. It is very quiet in the evenings. There is no air conditioning, but we were plenty cool with the ceiling fans going and the windows and doors open. It is walking distance from "Black Sand Beach" which is beautiful and unlike anything you have ever seen. The sand is made of tiny sparkling crystals of lava rock and this place is full of sea turtles. The surf is rough, but there are few tide pools formed for swimming.

Even though I stayed at Sea Mountain a full two years ago, I cannot forget the beauty, the tranquility, the serenity of the condo. This IS NOT a hotel; it is so much better than that. Just a few minutes walk to the black sand beach and with incredible views of the Pacific Ocean, Sea Mountain is the only place to stay on the Big Island. You are close to Volcanos National Park and Hilo. I stayed in unit 14. I would return except for the fact that it's a big world out there and there's so much of it I haven't seen yet. But, I remember every little detial about my stay at Sea Mountain. The way it rains each night, just enough to have you waking up to a bright, sunny morning that has been freshly washed, with bright flowers and lovely songbirds and perfectly manicured grounds, a full kitchen, fresh coffee and cool breezes. A slice of heaven on Earth. I would recommend Sea Mountain in a hearbeat. You will NOT regret it!

“I would stay again”

This is part of our Vacation Internationale timeshare. We rented 3 different rooms (because we had the points to use up, and had 3 generations of family go) and loved every minute of it.
The rooms had plenty of space and we loved the double-story ones, especially for the teenagers. Every morning we walked down to the Black Sand Beach and never failed to see turtles every single time. The pool was never too crowded and the bbq was easy to use. We only met other people while at the pool or bbq - the resort was either relatively empty or people were just very busy.

It's definitely a drive to get to whether you want to go. All day trips were planned - Hilo, Kona, Volcano National Park, etc. We even went ziplining in the jungle at the north end island and made it back to our hotel that night!

There are no restaurants at the resort, but there are a few small towns nearby that have some amazing places to eat. Don't expect to find breakfast easily - it's the Hawaiian lifestyle and finding hot food before noon wasn't easy. However, there is a great bakery just down the road that is worth the trip.

I would definitely stay here - with the teenagers, siblings and parents again. It was quiet, relaxing and just what we needed at the end of a busy day driving around the island!
