Beware of the misleading fine print. When you make a reservation the fine print reads that there is a 14 day cancellation policy after which all rooms that cannot be rebooked will not be refunded. When I tried to cancel my reservation (more than 14 days in advance) I was told that there was not a 14 day cancellation period and any rooms that cannot be rebooked would be charged regardless of when the reservation was made. When I told the innkeeper, Carrie, that I have a confirmation email that states there is a 14 day cancellation period, she said she was not sure of the fine print and would have to return my call the next day (it wasn't even 4:30pm on the Big Island.) I then expressed my concern over the changing policies and her lack of effort to assist me. Not only is it unethical to misrepresent cancellation policies, but her flagrant disregard for my concerns made me nervous considering she had my credit card on file. In response to this she replied, "Fine, I'll just eat it" and hung up the phone on me. My husband and I love traveling and enjoy staying in a range of accommodations - from tents and hostels, to five-star resorts. Never have we been treated so rudely or interacted with such an unprofessional manager. There are plenty of lodging options on the Big Island. Stay elsewhere.
