“Been there 3 times now - centralized, secluded, secure, family friendly.”

Just got back on June 1st from the Big Island. We live in Hawaii on the main island of Oahu, born & raised. We love to visit the Big Island to relax & experience old Hawaii of past - not so developed with a lot of history, outdoor activities & landmarks. Jim & Amy, the owners, have top-rate service & breakfasts. Their house is beautiful with a tasteful & clean interior. The landscaping is beautiful with large lawn & many island plants. The highlight for our kids (6 & 9 years old) is the private large swimming pool. They jump in before we go out, when we get back, any chance they get. We like it there also for the convenience to experience different parts of the island, security (gated & fenced), private on 2 acre lot & cleanliness. We will continue to stay there when we're visiting Hilo.

For you vacationers not from Hawaii, Jim has a lot of knowledge of the area & culture. He's always sharing things to do. Great hospitality & service! You will not be disappointed.

“Amazing location, emmaculate home, excellent service!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 May 2011

We stayed five nights in this tropical getaway. The bedroom was beautiful, modern, and we felt right at home. The morning breakfasts were AMAZING, presented by the first-class chef, Jim, and his wife! The premises are well-kept, with an array of tropical fruits and flowers at our fingertips. We would receommend this bed and breakfast to anyone traveling in the Hilo area. Our hosts were also extremely helpful in giving us tips on where to travel, and how to get there. Our honeymoon was blessed and our stay at this tropical paradise was fantastic.

“Awesome Accomodations on the Big Island”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 December 2010

My husband and I stayed 6 glorious nights at HPS. We loved the homey feel and the clean versatile accomodations. Amy, Jim, and Hunter are the most friendly and accomodating hosts anyone could ask for. We slept so well on their king sized bed, and breakfasted every day on the lanai. They were full of friendliness and Jim had always wonderful advice for us on our daily sightseeing. We'll highly recommend it for anyone. Diane and Mike Doherty, Denver, Colorado

“A great B&B”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 October 2010

My wife and I visited the Big Island for the first time, and decided to check out the Hilo area, as a balance to our next stop in Maui. Staying at a B&B is perfect for the region, you get to be front and center with the lush surroundings. Jim and Amy are great hosts, and having Hunter sit on your lap after breakfast was a nice way to end the meal. The grounds are very nice, and the room is perfect for a couple. Nicely furnished and new. My one (minor) negative is that the mattress is firm beyond what I've ever experienced. I like a firm mattress, this was super firm. But I started to get used to it by the third (and last) night. Had I stayed longer, I might have gotten used to it. After discussing this with my wife, we realize he has to satisfy the bed firmness styles of many cultures, which are often quite different.

The breakfast was tasty, we looked forward to it each morning. Not home made, but tasty nonetheless. And the fresh fruit from their own trees was a real treat.

The house is away from the crowds, but on a relatively busy street.

All in all, we highly recommend Paradise Suite.

“Peaceful Paradise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 August 2010

We stayed here for three nights to explore Hilo area. It's just a 15-20 min drive to Hilo, and easy to access downtown, shopping centers, snorkeling beach, lava viewing, etc.. It's located in suburban residential area. So usually quiet, dark in the night which is good for stargazing. There is a pool in the garden. You can use it for 24 hours.

Breakfast was awesome! You can choose your breakfast out of 6 choices. I liked pancakes and waffles. For lunch and dinner, there are nice and reasonable restaurants in neighborhood. We tried mexican restaurant at Pahoa, Thai restaurant in Hilo, stakehouse at Keaau shopping center, and all of them are pretty good.

I would recommend this place especially for those who lived in busy big cities (I am the one). Relaxing atmosphere, nice weather, very friendly and supportive host family (and your neighbor) is there.
