“Belle Vue Waimea: Ok. Belle Vue Kona: Now we're talking!”
(BV WAIMEA REVIEW, PLEASE SEE FURTHER BELOW FOR A REVIEW OF BV KONA) We arrived at BV Waimea around diner time, with no one to greet us or tell us which room was ours. We knocked at the door that looked like the main entrance, only to bother another guest who was just as clueless as we were. We walked around abit and eventually made it to an apartment which matched the site description for the studio. There was a key under the mat, so we went in. The studio was very spacious and convenient. However, we were completely puzzled as to the 'breakfast' in the fridge: an opened milk carton, an unopened soymilk carton, two old apples, cereals, an opened jam jar, bread, a ridiculously small amount of sugar, two energy bars and some oatmeal. Were these things our 'breakfast' or wasit leftovers from the previous guests? We ended up eating the oatmeal, and the next day the fridge was just like we left it, so we had to resort to something else. We tried calling the 'service' numbers for info, but no one picked up. When we finally bumbed into someone the next day, Gayland, he nicely asked if everything had been to our liking, but dismissed up very defensively as soon as we mentioned the no-greeting part, so we didn't even mention the breakfast. (BV KONA REVIEW) After that experience, we were quite afraid to go to the Kona one.. but how wrong we were! Vivian was there to greet us and converse a little bit with us (in French!) before showing us around. We could see right away what a woman's touch could do. The place was spotless and welcoming, and the fridge was filled with the same menu as the one BV, but the cartons were unopened, and there was also yogourt, juice, fresh garden bananas and homemade banana muffins. The view from the lanai was breathtaking (without mentioning all the cute birdies!). We enjoyed our stay very much and would recommend BV Kona without hesitation.
