My wife and I stayed here on our honeymoon in the Samurai Suite and this room was amazing bathroom with tiled shower and tub and bedroom with lanai and tataki mats. They even had boards, flashlights,etc. for you to take when exploring the island. But what was best of all was the wonderful homemade breakfasts from the couple. WOW! Would definitely recommend to folks. They even contacted us when we left an item at the last hotel we stayed at on Kona side. Great owners, great food and location. Thank you Hilo Honu Inn.

Hilo Honu Inn MADE our stay in Hilo the memorable experience it is because, frankly, we weren't enamored with the town itself. This B&B in a lovely section of town -- with the friendliness and graciousness of Gay and Bill -- is a holiday in itself. A beautiful getaway with a stunning Japanese loft suite with panoramic views of the town. Lots of interesting books and CDs on Hawaii, especially on the hula. Gay performs and competes with a hula group and did a traditional hula for us one morning at breakfast -- talk about a unique experience!

What more could you want from a B&B?

Great location on the hill overlooking downtown Hilo and the Hilo Bay. A very well restored historic home built by a Japanese family in the 30's. Very comfortable beds. Excellent showers. Beautiful furnishings. Attention to detail. Easy access to Hilo Farmer's Market, Volcano National Park, Mauna Kea observatory.

The best part. . . . Gay and Bill are wonderful hosts. You truly feel like you have arrived home. Not only did they greet us like their closest relatives, but they spent genuine time with us, shared valuable information about the area, told us the history of the home, and let us borrow their coats for the trip up to Mauna Kea observatory. The next time we are in Hilo there is only one place we will consider staying.

My wife and I spent two days at the Hilo Honu Inn. We stayed in the Bali High suite and it was spacious and comfortable with very fine decor. We looked at the other two rooms adn they were both excellent. Depending on our need, we would stay in any of them without a doubt. Gay and Bill are excellent innkeepers and very accomodating. My wife is gluten allergic and Bill made two very tasty breakfasts that were gluten free. The food was better than any restaurant we ate at, he is an accomplished chef. Gay loves Hawaii and it shows. We could not have asked for a better place to stay. Next time we are in Hilo, it will be where we stay.
