“We slept like babies!”

My husband and I stayed here 2 nights of our honeymoon, in the Hawaiian room. Breakfast was fantabulous, and huge! Our room was really big and airy. We slept like babies listening to the sound of the rain outside. All in all, we really weren't thrilled with Hilo and it's rain - we're Floridians, and need our sunshine! - but this place still brings back fond memories. It is a little bit out of town and it is truly gorgeous. You can walk to Boiling Pot, which is pretty, and it's easy distance to the volcano. This is a great value. Although I can't remember her name (hey we stayed here in October), Lori had a Hawaiian girl that helped out with breakfast and it was awesome talking to her. That's where we learned that Vegas is the 8th island :)

“Perfect place to stay in Hilo”

We couldn't have been happier with our stay at this B&B. Lori was the best host and made the best breakfasts - fresh baked homemade goods, yogurt, boiled eggs, fresh juice, smoothies, fresh fruit - i was always the last one to leave the breakfast table to gobble up the leftovers! Every time we came back from a long and exhausting day of exploring Hilo, the coasts, or Volcano, we were always so happy to come back and relax - immediate comfort! Our room was refreshed every day, dishes were available for us to use including a foam cooler for our day out to the volcano. Sitting out on the lanai was always my favorite - Lori keeps it well stocked with guidebooks of the island, recommendations on restaurants, flashlights for the volcano, hot tea and hot chocolate to our hearts content, and of course, bug spray. =)

It's the perfect location for anyone who is staying on this side of the island for a couple of days, visiting the volcano, and just to experience the 'old hawaii' - thank you so much Lori, we'll certainly be back! Especially for those scones =) Aloha!

“Amazing Sanctuary in Hilo that I would recommend to Everyone!!!”

Wow, what can I say?! We were absolutely blown away by the Old Hawaiian! You pull into a regular neighborhood and just don't expect to be met with such an amazing B & B situated on the rear of someone's house. Lori was extremely friendly and helpful and her breakfasts were AMAZING!!! Fresh squeezed juices, smoothies, the most eclectic fresh fruit displays and the most delicious home baked goods every morning. Breakfast was truly something to look forward to! Furthermore, our room was just right. It felt like we were back at home. Everything was spotless and cozy. The owners do not miss a beat. They know what their guests are looking for and they provide everything one could want/need. The yard is a beautiful sanctuary full of fruit trees and true Hawaiian scenery. Every morning we would wake up to the quiet and beauty of this island. It was such a great retreat from Waikiki, from where we had just come. I truly believe that this is a B & B that all visitors to Hilo should check out!

Really enjoyed my stay here. Quite and relaxing was a refreshing stay at a wonderful B&B. The breakfast was wonderful, really enjoyed the baked goods and the wonderful fruits and fruit smoothie. Was only a mile away from downtown Hilo. Enjoyed my stay with these friendly and gracious hosts and would recommend this B&B in a heartbeat.

“Nasty surprise”

We turned up to this B&B and left within 10 minutes of getting there. We lay down on the bed to rest and the cushions, sheets and pillows smelt just awful - as if they had been used and not washed in weeks. I put my head down on the pillow and immediately recoiled in horror at the odour. It smelt like a sponge that had been used for too long and not thrown out.

The B&B itself is situated in suburban Hilo. It's not really conveniently located.

I ended up staying at the Hilo Seaside hotel. It was a similiar price and we got to sleep in a fresh bed with clean sheets in a much nicer location with ocean views.
