Nice location next to park and ocean, we had a nice room with ocean and mountain views it was a corner unit on a upper floor, was very quiet and slept like a baby, no hair dryer in room which I would have liked they probably had them at front desk though. Rooms are a little old fashion but clean, hotels i really like use a sheet on top of blanket as well as under so you dont have to worry about who slept on it last, just a hint for management.

I booked this hotel through Hotwire, and when I arrived I realized I had stayed here before, quite a few years ago. The check-in lady was very friendly, and the room on the tree side of the hotel was very nice. I slept with my balcony door open, so I didn't need the AC. The only drawback was that there was no easy chair to relax in. The food in the dinner buffet was delicious, especially the rare prime rib and crab legs. I ate at the buffet two nights, it was so good. Though not a Hilton or Hyatt, it was still a nice hotel and a good value.

5 minutes from airport, 10 from shopping but what is most important less than an hour from Hawaii Volcanoes National park. Skip the food as there are better choices close by.
Clean and quiet...could use an update but overall a good value.

I'm taking this opportunity to thank the friendly staff at the Hilo Hawaiian for finding the new black silk sweater I left in our room when we checked out. I didn't realize it was missing until we were at the Kilauea Lodge, but a call to the Housekeeping manager turned up the sweater and we were able to pick it up the next day as we drove through Hilo on our way to Kamuela.

The sweater came in handy and I was so glad to get it back, thanks to your gracious staff.
