4 rooms share a kitchen for cooking and living room. staff is friendly. free internet. no tv in the room, but near the office. Firm bed, which I like. About 2 miles from a super market if you need food. Walmart is about 1 1/2 miles away.

My family and I stayed at Arnott's on the last leg of our trip to the Big Island. We couldn't have been more pleased with our stay. We took rooms 6 and 1 which are part of the deluxe building. The rooms were clean, comfortable and bright. Our rooms had sliding glass doors that opened onto a nice little grass area with your own table and chairs. Great for a morning breakfast setup. We spent a lot of our time hanging out in the common area which is equipped a great TV for watching sports and a computer with Wifi. Located just 2 miles down from Hilo's prettiest beach spots (Robertson was our favorite), Arnott's Lodge couldn't be a better bang for your buck.

Very fun place, everyone was very nice and polite, the room was great, a bit small, but for a budget vacation and off the beaten path experience, it's got everything what it needs.

This is a great alternative to a hotel or resort especially if you are a budget traveler who doesn’t want to stay at a generic hotel. We stayed in the Deluxe Accommodations meaning we had a large private room with a refrigerator and a shared kitchen. The room was very spacious (apparently we got the largest room in the place). There was a table and chairs both inside and out so we could eat breakfast outside every morning. The room was clean and comfortable.

Arnott’s is definitely not for everyone. There is nothing high-end about it. Arnott has managed to create a fun, communal kind of place (although there is plenty of privacy if you want it) in the middle of the Big Island. Like Hilo it is very unique. The staff were very friendly and helpful and we took advantage of the shared kitchen for making breakfast and dinner.

The room had an air conditioner but a ceiling fan would have been perfect. The walls are definitely paper thin, but it wasn’t really an issue for us since there was no one nextdoor most of our stay.
