“I am such a big fan!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

I admit, I've reviewed this fabulous place before! I am such a big fan, though, that I thought I would report that it is still as wonderful as it was when we first stayed there two years ago.
Greg and Michael are the best hosts: charming, funny, helpful, and kind but never intrusive. Coming down to a delicious breakfast every morning is a real treat.
If you are concerned about staying in one of the rooms without a tub or shower ... don't be! The outdoor lava showers are fantastic.
Hoping for another stay next year!
Aloha and mahalo, Greg and Michael!

Room Tip: Don't hesitate to choose a room with a half bath; the outdoor showers are great. The suite is v...

“Absolutely Marvelous!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

We had the pleasure of staying at this wonderful B&B (5 nights) in December 2011. Based upon our travel preferences, I located this property on the internet and began to investigate. It did not take long to realize it would fit our needs perfectly as it offered great lodging choices, a hot breakfast filled with variety, was a bit off the beaten path, and offered the opportunity to meet and chat with other guests in a very comfortable setting...part of which overlooks the Pacific.

It is everything, and more, described on their web site. The wraparound porch is great for breakfast, later in the day to relax after a day of sightseeing, and for viewing the beautiful sunsets. The soft leather furniture in the setting room, along with the soft Hawaiian music playing in the background, is yet another respite for relaxation and conversation with other guests.

In addition to having great business acumen, the owners have great senses of humor. They take time to make sure you happy with your stay, ask if need site-seeing information, offer recommendations about sites, restaurants etc and share their personal experiences about each. Additionally, if time permits, they are happy to give you a personal tour of the plantation. You will learn about growing coffee, fruit trees, plants, flowers and harvesting the crops etc. All very informative and interesting.

The bottom line....this property rates very high on the list of many B&Bs and Inns we have spent time at within and outside the USA. We highly recommend it and would not hesitate to stay here again.

Aloha!

“Amazing setting in South Kona”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

We stayed here for one night and loved the setting. The lanai is gorgeous with a great view of the water in the distance. There are also lots of fruit trees and bushes on the property making it really a plantation.

The breakfast was great: fresh fruit, bread (including taro bread) and coffee. All the fruits are grown by the very nice owner.

We also greatly enjoyed the hot tub. Again the setting was key; beautiful view of the stars. It seems the steam room is out of commission though.

The sign on the highway is not very visible, so I'd recommend arriving before dark.

We'd definitely stay again.

“Awesome”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2012

My husband and I stayed with Greg and Michael in October as the first leg of our 25th anniversary trip to Hawaii. The place is amazing. The hosts are well prepared, welcoming, accommodating and so very kind. We stayed in the little cottage and it was lovely. It was a very short walk over to the big verandah for a fabulous breakfast with an amazing view of the bay below us. We really enjoyed the kitchen time and catching up with the hosts who always seemed to have a funny story or two. Michael's banana pancakes and fabulous breakfasts spoiled us for the rest of our trip. When we moved on to Maui we were told that the Gazebo restaurant had the best banana macadamia pancakes but honestly, we thought Michael's were far superior! Greg and Michael serve a number of tasty treats that they grow and make on the plantation - we brought home coffee and jam to bring back the memories...Both Greg and Michael were also very helpful with finding activities, local restaurants and providing advice. I really appreciated Greg sending me some emails in advance of our trip with some suggestions for both Hawaii and Maui as well. I have to agree with many of the other comments, our visit with Greg and Michael totally exceeded our expectations. Awesome.

“Relaxing, Comforting, and Unique Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2012

We really enjoyed our stay at Greg and Michael's wonderful Ka'awa Loa Plantation. They are terrific hosts and helped us plan short, but our adventured-filled time on the Kona Coast. Michael cooks a terrific breakfast, starring their plantation-grown fruits. We are still daydreaming about the delicious mango juice! Their home is beautiful and immaculately clean. We would definitely stay here again when visiting the Big Island.
