“Not the place to stay in Jackson Hole”

If you prefer vacationing in a home that is NOT CLEAN, cooking on a greasy stove and want your family or friends to "SLEEP ON THE FLOOR" or on uncomfortable "ROLL A WAY BEDS" or in a drafty converted porch "BEDROOM"....you'll love this place!!! Our group reserved the property several months in advance with the condition that it would comfortably accomodate 12 grown men....the owner assured us it sleeps 18....we arrived to find that there were not enough beds to sleep everyone.....the owner delivered 2 additional "BEDS".....two "4 INCH THICK MATRESSES"???....and there aren't 6-1/2 bedrooms and the property was not clean. Ladies love a clean Kitchen....so you know if men are complaining it must be bad.....the countertop was dirty, the stove had grease all over it and the hood vent was layered with grease and did not have a vent cover. Bedrooms had a layer of dust on the furniture....well no problem "house keeping is included"....when???.....not while we were there!!!!!! The photos in the listing are staged and do not represent accurately the quality or cleaniness of the property. Jackson Hole has a lot to offer great skiing, good restaurants, events to see and many other activities, but I DON'T RECOMMEND THIS PROPERTY to stay in.....especially to any of the review categories.

“"too cold for comfort"”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2012

We booked at the Sassy Moose based on price. I was told by the owner that if I stayed at the Moose I "would never stay at the Bentwood again!" The check in time was between 4 and 6 pm. When I talked to the owner in route I was told our room would be available at Noon. When I thanked him and told him of our planned arrival time of around 5 pm he acted put out that we wouldn't arrive at noon. When we did arrive he greeted us and showed us our room. The heat was not turned on and he showed us how the gas fireplace worked. The room was cold and I was concerned it would take a while to heat up the log walls. He gave us "a tour", which consisted of showing my wife and my two young daughters and I the kitchen and main living room. After he left we went into Jackson to give our room time to reach a comfortable temperature. There was dog feces around the yard in the snow and landscape equipment buiried in snow. When I went to the main living room to relax it was about 60 degrees and there was not any wood for the wood stove. The other rooms where cold and not made up with linens laying around. I tried to find the hot tub (read warm-tub). It was in a group of trees with no path shoveled to it in the snow. The water looked as if it hadn't been cleaned and the tub was in disrepair. Breakfast the next day consisted of eggs with pineapple blended into them (no warnings or questions of possible fruit allergies), burnt bacon, cold coffee, frozen packaged potatoes with dog hair. At breakfast the owner joined us (my invite). My 5 year old daughter accidently kicked the leg of the table and it "shook". She wasn't sure what she did and "tested" it again. Realizing her own actions she stopped. Both my wife and I reminded her not to shake the table. (keep in mind she's 5). That's about the time the owner felt the need to "reprimand" my daughter in a gruff voice. I guess his plywood table couldn't handle the abuse. I'd hate to see what a cabin full of elk hunters would do to the furniture. That is when my wife "tapped out". We will never stay at the Sassy Moose again. I have stayed at several hotels in Jackson Hole over the past 20 years and everyone of them was better than the Sassy Moose. I have stayed at the Bentwood Inn two times. If I could afford it again I would visit them many times over. Stay clear of the Sassy Moose.

Room Tip: Look into the Bentwood Inn. Ask for Lee.

The Sassy Moose Inn is a great place to stay! I had never stayed at a bed and breakfast inn before and was a little hesitant before arriving. But, it turned out much better than expected. The Inn was clean and very comfortable. We had a very nice room with excellent views of the snow covered Tetons. The breakfasts - prepared by Craig - were again beyond what was expected - simple but very good. There is an outdoor hot tub with views of the Tetons - we spent almost every evening in the tub. We also had a wood burning fire in our room on most evenings. Couldn't get much better. We will be back -

Room Tip: all the room have views of the grand tetons

“Wonderful relaxing Place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 October 2011

Sassy Moose is by far one of the best B&B's I've stayed at. Craig & Natalia were gracious hosts and made sure we were comfortable. The breakfasts were fantastic and the location was close to Grand Teton National Park and the city center. Another plus - dog friendly! I would highly recommend staying here.

“The Sassy Moose was great.”

We just returned from a 3-night stay at the Sassy Moose. Craig & Natalia (and their 2 dogs) were very welcoming and especially charming with our 5 yr old. Our 2-queen room was spacious, comfortable and quiet with gorgeous views of the Tetons. Breakfast was delicious and we really enjoyed getting to know the other guests. We saw moose just next to the B&B and it was a convenient location between town and the park entrance. We're already planning our return visit. As a side note, late September was a great time to visit Jackson Hole -- gorgeous fall colors, warm temps and not many crowds.
