Holiday Inn Express, in this part of the world, appear to be either revitalising or rebuilding their hotels. We found this easily (following the railway lines mentioned in previous Tripadvisor reports!), and yes, the noise of the train is invasive. However, as a visitor to the US, I quite like hearing the sound of the trains tooting as they go by.

The hotel was new and the staff very friendly. The entrance lobby was welcoming, and full of goodies like fruit and biscuits for visitors. The rooms were on the small side, but clean and comfortable, and we didn't have issue with the beds - they were fine. Torrington is not a place on the beaten path, but it served its purpose for us, and we enjoyed our stay. The hotel was heaving - a school reunion and two weddings! - so it is obviously enjoying some popularity.

I have used HI Express several times lately and I found them to be consistently good. This one is like the rest, just a bit pricey given the location. True, there is a freight train line close to the building (across the highway) but I sleep like a log and it didn't bother me. The only thing that annoyed me is the fact that the clerk insisted that the beds were queen size when they were most clearly double size. I can tell the difference. Really.

Everything you would expect form brand new Holiday Express. Everything spotless clean and comfy, good breakfast, clean pool. Remember request room on the back side of a hotel, train noise is not a joke. We did that well in advance , hotel looked half empty at the time but they still ignored our request, be persistent and ask them at check in , we thought it probably would not be a big deal but it was, trains blow a whistle at a crossing in town.

The hotel was very nice, the room was very clean and comfortable and breakfest was good. We woke up 3 or 4 times during the night as a train across the street blew it's whistle while coming thru town.
