We had 3 rooms booked in our family and ended up moving 3 times because of ants, then overheard the staff complaining that now they had to clean 4 rooms. Not my problem! We have been coming here for years and this is the first time we have been disappointed.

This motel is in an excellent location, within walking distance of the free state bath house (hot springs). Employees are excellent and the theme remains relevant for the West. A mineral spring outdoor soaking tub is very nice and deer are easily seen on a regular basis. However, the motel itself is in need of updating to move it to the 21st century. An example would be the need to improve lighting within the facility.

I cannot disagree more with some of the comments made here. I was not expecting anything from reading the comments on the site regarding this hotel. Let me just say that the staff were friendly, the room perfect and clean, dinner excellent. It was interesting with lots of photos and trophy heads on the wall.

We stayed one night on our way up to Cody. From previous reviews on Expedia it looked like it was a nice place to stay. I also based the room rate vs. others in the area and expected it to be alot nicer than the others. Don't let the room rate fool you. This was an old hotel that has not really been remodeled except perhaps the carpeting. As we were checking in we heard one of the hotel staff saying the couple who had just checked in were "cheaters" for having booked through Expedia. Little did she know we had done that same thing while driving in the area to assure a room! We were given a non-smoking room in a quieter area which was nice but had to walk right past a smoking room to enter ours. The smell was awful and you could tell by the color of the back of the drapes that it had been smoked in for years and years. We saw this pattern of color on various window drapes throughout our wing. At least our room did not smell! I was highly disappointed when leaving I had forgot to pack my sandles (cost over $100) and realized it later in our trip. I knew I had left them there because they were the last pair of shoes I used walking back from their spa pool right before we left. I knew we were returning through Thermopolis in a couple of days so waited to pick them up on our return. Well, of course they did not show up in housekeeping or any where else and the staff seemed to care less. As a business owner I would have checked with the staff that cleaned my room previously 4 days ago but I guess that just did not occur to them!
