August 2006 was an extraordinary bad month for air travel. Red security alerts were issued related to ten foiled London to US plane bombings. Extreme security precautions were being used against more potential threats. We reluctantly cancelled our trip to Jackson Wyoming.

United Airlines, our car rental firm and three other nearby hotels allowed us to rebook or cancel our stays with minimum if any charges.

Jackson Hole Resort Lodging at Teton Village would not return my four phone calls. My three emails came back undelivered. When I finally reached a reservation person four days later I was told that my offer to stay in a low travel month June 2007 was unacceptable and I was to forfeit 100% of the $500 deposit. which was three nights paid in full.

They suggested this was due to my travel agent's 30 day cancellation policy. When I inquired as to who sets the cancellation policy the hotel or the travel agent, they reluctantly admitted it was their hotel policy.

My travel agent tried to no avail to obtain either a credit for a future stay or a partial refund from the property manager.

Be wary of booking a room here if there is even a remote chance of cancelling a stay within 30 days of arrival. Note travel insurance doesn't cover the situation described above. Consider other hotels.

Jackson Hole is always amazing but now they have the Four Seasons and the Teton Club it is amazing. Aman has an amazing resort there too. We stayed at the Teton Club - a private club but you can rent via the Club if you call and members have not used all the condos. It is beautiful, homely and spacious - a great great room, outdoor hot tubs, big apartments. Jackson leaves Vail and co for dead
