“Great hotel, Great service”

We stayed here on NYE after our other hotel decided to give away our reservation to someone else. We showed up late and very tired and the guy was great, got us checked in right away, offered us water, cookies, coffee and a wake up call, also made sure we knew when breakfast was. The room was clean and not super over priced.

“Fabulous!”

We stayed here for four nights whilst exploring the Bighorn Mountains. Our main complaint was that it we found it difficult to locate to start with as our Sat Nav did not recognise Sibley Circle. The hotel is located off 5th exit 23 from the 1 - 90 It is also no where within walking distance for places to eat, as it is perched on a hill away from the main street. The reception area was nice and the staff very pleasant. Our bedroom was like a boutique hotel room, very smart and modern with a very large bathroom, loads of fluffy towels and toiletries, plenty of mirrors and uber powerfull hairdryer. The room also had micro, fridge and huge TV and Wi Fi. The room no 126 was on the ground floor looking out on to the car park, which was a bit off putting, as you could not open the curtains without people being able to see in all the time. I think it must have also been next to some sort of service cupboard that housed a motor, as this awfull noise would start up periodically, usually when trying to sleep, and would just keep humming. If it were not for the fact that i had unpacked everything before I noticed this, I would have asked for a change of room. As it was i used my earplugs every night. The breakfasts were good and very well served by charming Carisa, who was for ever cleaning up and keeping it all spotless. There was allways a good selection. The reception staff were very helpfull, and Johne was kind enough to look up on the internet for an outfitter where we could go horseback riding, and made the phone call for me. We tried two of the recommendations in the book for places to eat. We checked in Sunday night and most places were closed. We finally had to wait to get in to the Wyoming Rib and Chop House, which was SO busy, and very noisy, where our cheque came to $50 but this did include a huge marherita and wine. The food was good if a little on the expensive side. We also went to the Pony Bar and Grill where we paid $23 for a meal for two with wine. Sheridan is a quiet town at the weekends and Labour Day, but there are some quite fun shops there when they are open!! Apart from the room noise this hotel was one of my favourites, and am sure it would have been better in a different room.We paid $472.60 total cost for four nights.

Room Tip: Make sure you are not booked in to room 126 or take earplugs!

“Clean & quiet - wish you could open the windows!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 October 2011

After spending the previous night at the Comfort Inn & Suites in Mitchell, SD (how that place gets such high ratings is one of life's great mysteries) we were hoping for a different - and better - experience in Sheridan, WY. And we got that.

The Hampton Inn in Sheridan is actually in kind of a pretty location. As another reviewer noted, it's convenient to I-90, but sits on a hill with views of the mountains and seems well insulated against noise from the interstate. You need to go back into town to eat, but it's only a 5 minute drive.

The hotel was sold out the night we stayed there, but despite how busy it was, the front desk staff was cheerful and accommodating. And they did have the platter of warm, chocolate chip cookies :) The check-in clerk suggested a couple of different restaurants we could try and offered us menus to see what they served. (We had a very good dinner at 1893 Grille & Spirits - wow, what great pork chops!)

Our room was on the lower level, sort of a garden level with only a few guest rooms, and we thought it might be kind of dark and dreary but it actually was fine - decently sized with a big window and the Hampton Inn's usual crisp, inviting bedding with scads of pillows. It is so much nicer to see that Hampton Inn freshly washed, white duvet than the who-knows-what-has-happened-on-this type nasty bedspreads favored by some other chains.

Housekeeping was pretty good, although it's probably time for a big "fall cleaning" to get all of the fingerprints from the interior doors, etc.

There's a newish flatscreen TV, and free wireless internet access. There was actually an ethernet jack for wired access which we really would have preferred to the unsecured wifi, but it didn't work and the front desk clerk, despite her best efforts, wasn't able to figure it out.

Breakfast was fine; I think they even had a few hot items in addition to the usual cereal and yogurt fare.

There was a mistake on our bill which the front desk person immediately resolved. The desk staff at this Hampton Inn seem genuinely service-oriented and were all really personable.

Our only negative comment about the Hampton Inn/Sheridan is that the windows don't open and the AC cycles on and off all night. If you turn the AC off, the room gets really close and stuffy. The wall thermostat was apparently smarter than we are and we couldn't figure out how to set the unit on 'fan' only to have some circulating air plus a steady noise rather than that annoying on/off AC thing. Ah well.

“Lovely view.”

This property sits just off the interstate on a hill overlooking Sheridan and the mountains to the west. The room was comfortable with a flat screen TV and nice bedding and beds. Breakfast room was spacious with a decent range of selections. Moisture has caused some early blistering of paint on the ceiling above the shower; otherwise maintenance was excellent. There is not a restaurant close by for lunch or dinner.

“Staff was so nice, BUT...”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 September 2011

Staff was so kind, but as soon as we walked into our room it smelled very bad. The beds covers were lumpy…could have possibly dealt with that until we took off our shoes. The carpet was actually moist. On top of that there was mold in the bathroom tiles. We checked out and went to another hotel. Fabulous staff…hope they fix the rooms…..
