Had I not already booked the room (sight-unseen) through Hotels.com, I would have walked away before even entering the lobby. The glass doors and windows hadn't been cleaned in ages. Through the grimy windows, I could see the tables in the "breakfast area" still had the crumbs and litter left over from the morning's breakfast, even though it was six in the evening.
There were no staff attending the lobby or anywhere else in view. To get service, you had to press a buzzer button (below a sign that read "Absolutely No Refunds") and someone would emerge from a door behind the counter. The woman who checked us in was wearing clothing that needed washing as badly as the windows.
We immediately tried to cancel the reservation through Hotels.com, but we were past the deadline so we decided to tough it out and stay the night.
I must say that after experiencing the grimy lobby and indifference of the staff, the room was not as bad as I had feared. The toilet seat was broken, the drains didn't drain very well. The bed did not have a fitted bottom sheet, but instead used a top sheet tucked under the mattress, which of course came loose during the night so you found yourself sleeping directly on the mattress.
The most positive thing I can say is that the room was spacious and I didn't see any evidence of vermin.
The "free continental breakfast" was the most meager and ill-presented I have ever seen. We touched nothing that had not been boiled (i.e. coffee and tea).
There was "free wi-fi", but the signal strength was so weak and network speed so slow it was practically unusable.
Look, I don't mind rustic or well-worn lodging if it is reasonably clean and I get good value, but this place made my skin crawl.
Do yourself a favor and choose another motel.
