We planned a 12 day trip to the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone National Parks. Our goal was to stay in various places along our trip to reduce driving times due to the large distances withing the parks. We chose the Hatchett Resort because it was located close to the entrance of the Grand Tetons. It was a nice enough looking place from the outside, but the inside was awful. Our pillowcases were yellow/brown from age and our bed coverings were equally unpleasant. The room was full of mosquitos! If you dare step out of your car you need to run to your destination. You will be swarmed in seconds. This is the only place in the Grand Tetons that we came across like this. The motel [it is NOT a resort] needs to spray or something. We spent a great deal of time killing as many mosquitoes as we could before going to bed each night. We had booked the place for three days, because we planned on doing a lot of hiking. On our second night, we woke up to no hot water. I talked with the owner, and he said it would work later in the day. I asked if he would give a complimentary breakfast or some kind of discount and he rudely said no. The walls between the rooms are very thin and despite attempts to not be loud you will hear everything in the adjoining rooms. In addition, each time a person closed a door in adjoining rooms, the walls would shake. We never saw a hot tub anywhere. As for the sole reason for booking here, [to be close to the main entrance] it still took 35 minutes to get to the hiking areas. Yes it is about 5 minutes to the entrance, but you end up driving through the park back toward the Jackson Hole direction to the hiking areas. If you stay in Jacson Hole, you can come in on the other entrance and it takes about the same amount of time. As for Jackson Hole, it is a fun town full of very nice looking hotels, grocery, restaurants and stores. We really enjoyed touring the town. The stuff there is vastly overpriced, but the shirts are priced the same everywhere we went. There is nothing anywhere near Hatchett and you will have to drive to Jackson Hole to eat anyways. I wish we had known and would've just stayed in that area to start with. The front desk is not maintained 24/7. It seems someone is there around 7/8am to maybe 5pm. After that, you are on your own if you need something.
