If you end up in Lusk for the night, the best place to stay is the Best Western. It's right near the main intersection, so it's easy to find. The owners really love to take care of you, and it spills over to the employees. It's an older motel that has been converted. But don't let that scare you, the rooms are clean and updated and you'll have a nice stay.
The breakfast is good and included, but a short walk to the south takes you to a truck stop cafe that is worth the walk. Unless it's too cold and windy! Then just drive over.

Stayed here 9/15/11 on our way from Rapid City to Denver. Hotel was pretty full, however the rooms were clean and comfy. This was the 6th hotel that we stayed at over our 2 week vacation and it was by far the friendliest and most cordial. Scrambled eggs were being served and when we went for the continental breakfast at 9:00am, we were the only ones there. My wife was dying for some eggs and asked if they were going to replenish the warming dish. The owner came over and said "How about I make you a couple of fresh eggs, any way you want them". He graciously made us 2 ham and cheese omelets, what service and what a treat. Great place to stay!
