We stayed three nights in a townhome in Clark's Knoll recently, and although the resort itself is nice and the location good, with its close proximity to the center of town in Jackson, the townhouse we stayed in was in poor repair. First, the overhead doors for parking spaces were unlocked (and they could not be locked, that we saw) and the interior door into the living space was unlocked as well, leaving the condo completely open to anyone, upon our arrival. It was convenient not to need a key to get in, but come on - a little security wouldn't be a bad thing!
In one of the rooms within, two of the wall lamps (the only lighting in the room) had melt/burn marks in the shades. A fire hazard, to be sure. We unplugged those immediately upon noticing how hot they got and that they already had brown marks and melted portions. The sheets and other bed linens were about 12 thread count; you could see the color of the mattress right through the sheet (there wasn't even a mattress cover). Not exactly luxurious, although the towels were newer and nice. However, one of the pillow shams had a brown stripe on it that appeared as if it might be damage from sitting on the VERY hot heat runs (electric baseboard heaters that got hot enough we worried about the kids burning themselves on them).
The condo was missing basics like hotpads for removing items from the oven or stove, a kitchen towel, serving dishes, there were not enough flatware pieces or drinking glasses for the number of guests the lodging was advertised as accomodating. There were broken chairs that were so wobbly it seemed dangerous to even use them. The threshold on the main-level bathroom floor was loose, presenting a serious tripping hazard, bathroom and bedroom doors would not lock (they were supposed to, but the doors and jams didn't line up right), electrical sockets that were cracked (not the cover, the socket itself!), lots of little things that just showed how poorly the place is kept.
The one night we ventured out to try the pool, it was relatively warm outside (for Jackson in December!). The pool, however, was too cold to be of use, even to our kids who are always up for a swim. They ended up using the hot tub for a few minutes to warm up after our abbreviated pool attempt.
As for the purported high speed internet access, we never did figure out how to use it. We found a very weak signal for snowking that we were able to log onto, but the quality was so poor for simply browsing the web we turned off wi-fi and went with the 3G connection we had on our devices. Not what you'd think you would need to do when the place touts wireless access.
All in all, not one of my favorite places to stay, and it's obvious why this establishment ranks in the lowest quartile of Jackson lodging here on tripadvisor. Steer clear, as there are other places (some closer to town) that offer better lodging.
