“Old West hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2012

we loved it! We are from Wyoming and this is what you want if you really want to experience our state. If you want wi-fi and sleek new rooms, then I'd try someplace else. This hotel is an experience that I will never forget and I'll have to go back. We had a nice room in the older section. Period furniture, old wallpaper, and love the pull-chain toilets! Our experience with the food wasn't great, but I'm not a buffet fan either, and that's what we had. Don't miss Old Trail Town. It was the cherry on top of a great weekend away from home. For a history buff and a person who would take a dirt road over an interstate anyday, this was awesome. We'll be back for sure.

“some historic some not, all decent”

Make sure you know what you want before booking. There is the origional historic hotel, as well as a slightly less historic addition. The origional part is complete with period furniture for a complete historic experiance and all that that entails. The addition is a little newer, but the rooms are small. The hotel has a dining room with great prime rib and fantastic breakfast, but the service is average. The bar is fun for a little while but gets a bit intense late at night. A good deal in the off season, but at peak it is just too crowded.

Room Tip: decide on historic (few amenities) or newer rooms

“A Blast Back in Time”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 October 2011

Be aware when you are booking this hotel it is over 100 years old. There are also two types of room. One is a 'historic room' in the old part of the building and secondly there are the more modern rooms in an extension. The historic rooms are quite a bit more expensive. Our room was in the historic section. It was actually two rooms into one, the decor and furniture were in keeping with it's age period, but was very clean with a lovely modern bathroom. There was minimal noise from the large saloon bar and restaurant below. We were not impressed by the restaurant service. Apologies to the ladies who worked very hard, there were simply not enough staff to cope with a room that probably seats close on 200.

Room Tip: Ask is it a historic room or not and what are the relevant rates.

“An attraction rather than great place to stay over”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 October 2011

The Irma is more of an icon and attraction than the place to stay over. The rooms are small, and in need of attention. The greatness of theis place is that it is smack bang in the middel of town and the food is great. All attractions are in close proximity and you can walk around in the main road. In a nutshell, the advertising is grater than that comfort.. Your choice.

Room Tip: Be carefull of the back rooms facing the parking area.

“Historically worth the inconveniences!”

This place is like re-living history.
The rooms are spacious and reminiscent of the early 19th century but you hear the running water in the plumbing pipes at 5 AM.
