It was the conclusion of a day full of wonderful activity while enjoying the south west of Wisconsin. With the bright idea of staying in the Wisconsin Dells, with all of it’s variety. This brought us to one of the most disgusting hotels I have ever stayed in. I thought we would have a nice pleasant stay at the Econolodge, we sprang for the King Jacuzzi suite thought we would have the ability to relax. But what we found in the room was a nightmare. Sure it started off as a few simple offenses such as left soap caps in the shower, to old candy wrappers on the floor. First major thing was that one of the wall mount lamps didn’t work, so easy solution get a new bulb from the front desk. This did not resolve the issue it had been faulty wiring and no new bulb would aid in that repair.
So as anyone who has had a long road trip knows there is nothing better for fatigue then a good stretch in the pool. When we got to the pool it was littered with at least a dozen wet towels tossed randomly on the floor. This could be explained if the pool had been busy, this of course was not the case. There had been no one in here at check in and there was no one down there still.
Back to the room, all sites where set upon the relaxation of the Jacuzzi. That is when you could notice the dark grey grim that had accumulated around the walls of the Jacuzzi, as you could see hand prints and finger marks, through the disgust. And the burgundy chair with multiple white stains along its side. Closer expectation also found that the two other chairs in the room shared similar stains in the most questionable of locations.
Morning brought the sights of low run stains, more griming walls and deep feeling of dirty and disgusting. The continental breakfast was a mixture of watered down juice, stale bagels and mini doughnuts. And a fine selection of cereals ranging in Fruit loop raisin bran, or raisin bran frosted flakes.
The staff was friendly but completely oblivious to there job. They did not know there specials at check in where they offer free tickets with various rooms. They didn’t know how to change a light bulb. Our how to handle being told the problems with the room. At check out she had ask me about my stay, where I pulled out the list of troubles. And began to tell her, she quickly obtained another woman, who I began to repeat myself to which she then cut me off as well, and told me to write everything down and she would have her manger call me.
In conclusion the Wisconsin Dells is a wonderful place to stay and play. And because of this it offers a wide variety of lodging options at different price points, and amenities. So do yourself a favor and find a different place to rest your head. Because the Wisconsin Dells Econolodge you get a little more then you bargain for, and all this was in the off season.
