I should have read the reviews for this place PRIOR to making reservations. Unfortunately I didn't check the reviews until the day before our going there. Too late to make other plans but I was totally freaked out by the reviews. We had booked the room for 2 nights. When we got there the front desk clerk, a young girl, was standoffish and rude. Bad beginning...still I gave her the benefit of the doubt...maybe she was having a bad day. I was relieved to see the place really looked pretty decent. It didn't look dirty or nasty to me so I breathed a sigh of relief. The room looked nice enough and the bathroom was clean. We went next door to a concert that night. When we got back to the room we were dead tired and my husband said he was going to go to bed it was 11:30 pm. When he pulled back the covers....lo and behold SEVERAL BED BUGS WERE CRAWLING ON THE BED AND SOME COMING OUT FROM BEHIND THE HEADBOARD!! We didn't even stay. We quickly packed our bags, took the night clerk one of the bugs in a cup and hot tailed it out of there...having to drive 3 plus hours to get back home at that time of the night!! They seriously need to do something about this problem!! BEWARE!

To summarize my experience would be repeating every negative review on this site. To sum it up: no manager on duty, loud rooms, rooms not clean, no breakdown of room costs (we wanted tax information, but they would not give it to us... we believe we were overcharged), and rude staff. I will say there was one very nice male working in the morning, but that does not make up for three horrible staff members whose rudeness knows no bounds. The biggest complaint was that we were told we would get a roll out, so we got the room. There was no roll out available later that night. We believed we were charged for it which is why we requested a breakdown of the costs. They would not give it to us. Please don't support a business that does not care about the consumer.

We stayed here last year and it was an okay low-frill hotel, suitable for a family on a budget. This time it was a train wreck. If it hadn't been Saturday night in Wisconsin Dells at the height of tourist season we would have left. The "non-smoking" room smelled like wet dog and stale smoke - we went out and bought air freshener - there was no remote for the very small TV with a broken stand, a cracked lampshade, multiple lights didn't work, carpet was dirty, there was a burn hole in the bedspread, and we found DOG FOOD scattered across one of the chairs. The beds actually felt like two box springs on top of each other. Breakfast consisted of cereal or waffles, juice or coffee, no cutlery - I found plastic forks in a cupboard. I'm a good sport and It was laughable until I discovered LIVE BUGS in the beds and on the pillows. Then it stopped being funny. We went straight to the front desk where we were told the manager was unavailable and couldn't be reached, and they were unauthorized to credit us a refund, even for the night we hadn't stayed yet (they made us pay in advance for our 2 nights). I called Choice Hotels and found out they lost their affiliation back in June and aren't even supposed to be calling themselves Econolodge anymore or using Choice Hotels room literature or signage. Have not received the call from the manager that was promised (I'll be shocked if we ever do). Don't stay here. Period. Really disgusting.

Manager needs to call customer back. Very disappointed. Told they had military discounts but when we got there they wouldn't give it to us.
