When we checked in, we were told they only had rooms w/ hot-tubs available, so we paid more. There was a festival in town, so we didn't continue to look. We planned to stay two nights. Overnight, it was obvious the hotel was at less than half capacity. The next morning at 8am, I told the desk that we had changed our mind and wanted to check out. They said our card was charged for two nights already and we had to pay for the 2nd night in the hot-tub room. They said that it was standard procedure in the Dells, but other hotels did not verify that. I felt lied to. The room itself was acceptable, but we did not want a room with a hot-tub.

My family visited the Dells for a short fall getaway. We stayed at the Alakai becuase of the great rates in the off season. We have stayed before and had a pleasant experience and this was no exception. The hotel was clean both in the rooms and the hall. My son walked barefoot in the hall and his feet stayed clean. The pool was large and the whirlpool hot with strong jets. The staff was pleasant. The room was quiet. Even though there was a party, it was still quiet.

Enjoyed an overnight weekend stay with 4 grandkids ages 3 and under in late Oct, so were only able to enjoy the indoor water park. As the website states, it's for 8 years & younger and was perfect! Everything looked clean and attended to. Walking distance to kid friendly restaurants. A very quick drive for all other Dell's activies. We recommend Buffalo Phil's Pizza & Grille- really kept the kids occupied until food came. There was no whining to be heard...We will come again to Alakai!

I stay at the Alakai Hotel every time I'm in Wisconsin Dells and have always enjoyed it. They have a large indoor pool area with a sauna and hot tub and an outdoor pool area as well. The staff is friendly and helpful and they keep the hotel pretty quiet at night despite the fact the city is often overrun during the summer by screaming kids! I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone and particularly families looking for a quieter place to relax that the kids will still be able to enjoy...
