“Nice comfortable motel in the Dells - I want to rate it a 3.5”

Some friends and I were looking for a reasonably-priced place to sleep while road-tripping through Wisconsin Dells over the Memorial Day weekend, and ended up at the Mayflower. We were pleasantly surprised by the experience. Driving along Wisconsin Dells Parkway, you see a lot of unpleasantly kitschy hotels and motels, and the Mayflower distinguishes itself by being pretty sedate and solid-looking, bereft of unicorns or giant orcas or concrete candy floss.

The motel is large and sprawling, surrounding several nice pools, not all of which were full of water when we were there. We had a ground floor room near the back of the property, which was nice and quiet. The room itself was very large and clean, with two queen-sized beds, a table for writing, a fridge and microwave and a television. As travelers who come with a variety of laptops, chargers, and other electronic devices, we really appreciated that the outlets in the room were plentiful and accessible. We also appreciated the free wi-fi access.

We took advantage of an indoor pool and hot tub, as well as the on-site coin laundry. The pool area seemed very well-maintained, and the hot tub was comfortably but assertively hot. The only difficulty we had with the stay was that the towels in the room were small, and there were not enough of them for us to all dry off after using the pool and still have dry towels for showering. However, when we called the front desk to ask for more, they quickly delivered us a giant stack of bath towels, so it turned out to not be much of a problem after all.

When we checked in, the front desk staff gave us a discount pass for a lot of the area attractions, which we didn't end up using, but which seemed like a pretty good deal. All in all, we thought the Mayflower was good value for the money, and a nice place to stay.

“Not Too Shabby!”

I read some reviews on here and was a little put off, but it was labor day weekend and a lot of the other "value" centered places had a two night minimum, so I thought to give it a try. My sister, two cousins and I were all for adventure, so The Mayflower is where we landed.

Okay people this is NOT the Ritz Carlton. This is outdated and the rooms were definitely worn, but it was for the most part clean and comfy. It IS a kitschy motel on the dells strip. It is a bargain. The staff were top notch, fast, helpful, we needed some extra towels and pillows, no problem for them. It has 2 outdoor and 2 indoor pools, free wifi and was a decent place to stay. The hot tub and sauna were a nice surprise, and like the pool clean and well cared for. A fridge, a microwave, a great location ... we weren't expecting "amazing," but what we got was decent/adequate/cheap and it worked for us and I would stay again.

“Wouldn't stay again.”

The location of this hotel was good (near Noah's Ark) and the girls at the front desk were helpful. Our room was dirty and needed to be updated. The bathroom shower had hair in it and all over the floor. The carpet in the room had so many stains you were afraid to walk around barefoot. We started to guess what each stain was and how it got there. The beds were very uncomfortable and the pillows were very flat. We also had a plastic piece over the mattress that made the bed uncomfortable. The refrigerator in the room was also dirty. We paid $150 to stay one night on a Saturday. Wish we would have spent a little more to stay at a better hotel.

“Pleasantly surprised at the Mayflower. Really enjoyed the room with a loft!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 July 2010

We rented a loft room. The second queen bed was in a loft above the main room. Our teenagers loved this. It gave us space to stretch out in, we didn't feel that we were packed into a typical hotel room. This made the stay much more enjoyable. There is also a couch and table. With the fridge and microwave we could keep snacks on hand, which helped some with the cost of eating out. They have two indoor pools and two outdoor pools. They have discounts which we were able to use at Noah's Ark Waterpark (whole family loved this) and Wizards' Quest (also a lot of fun)

“You get what you pay for”

The room rates were cheap and located right on the strip close to all of the main attractions, but the motel was old and not modern, but it was clean. I didn't particularly care for the old stale smell of the room or the old bedding. This motel is perfect for a a young party crowd who doesn't care about anything but a place to lay their head after a night of partying. Not for a family who would like to enjoy the room. I won't be revisiting it the next time I'm in the Dells.
