“Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2012

i stayed at the Meadowbrook recently for a volleyball tournament at the WI Dells Center. This resort is only a mile from the volleyball center and is a perfect location and the price was certainly right. I had three teens with me, all exhausted after volleyball all day so they weren't a bit disappointed that the indoor pool is a wading pool for little kids-and this lack of pool was pointed out to me when I made my reservation which was very thoughtful.
We had a two bedroom with a small kitchenette. It was exceptionally clean and neat. Furniture was surprisingly sparse-like no coffee table in front of the couch, but again, all neat and clean. The kitchenette is limited-microwave, refrig, hotplate, and full set of dishes and utensils. I brought my own coffee and filters as I had read reviews on here. In fact we ate all of our meals in our room which really helped with our weekend budget.
Staff was helpful and kind. The front desk is closed through the night and reopens at 9AM and once there were able to assist with my questions. Even shared a bit about the history of this resort and showed us some pictures of the place in the 1920's.
I was very realistic in what I wanted/needed in a place to stay and this perfectly suited my needs for the weekend. In fact this is now going to be our "go to" place for the volleyball season because of it's location. Folks that are expecting to find the typical WI Dells water park experience at this resort will be disappointed. But if you desire something smaller, simpler and very neat and clean, you will be very satisfied.

“Good for Families with Young Children”

We stayed on the Trains and Duck Tails package. My two and three year old both loved the indoor water park area. It is rather small, but but was the perfect size for kids that young. They have three different campfire areas where we made smores with the bucket that came with the package. You have to bring your own roasting sticks or buy ones there. They have a movie each night in the lobby and provide popcorn. On our second night, they let my son pick the movie.

We had a room in the Ponderosa building It has two double beds and one twin. We did not get one with a kitchen because this one had a small fridge and a microwave already. There was also a small table with four chairs in the room. Outside the room was a small picnic table for each room on a deck that is shared with other rooms on the same floor. Towels are small and thin, mattresses are low quality, and the walls are fairly thin. The room was a good size, there was plenty of hot water, water pressure was also very good. The room was also generally very clean.

I would recommend this resort if you can get a good value on a package. I would not be satisfied paying summer high season rates for this hotel. Also, the staff was in general very nice, but we came at the end of August just after the summer season. Everyone looked very tired and a little over it.

Room Tip: Avoid ground floor rooms in the main building unless you want your room to be ten feet from the pool...

“Okay but watch the package deals”

We went to the Meadowbrook Resort at the end of June, up until July 3rd. As previous posters have said, the grounds were immaculate. The room was nice with a unique tree thing hanging from the ceiling.
I was very upset with our package deal. One of the only reasons we decided to stay here was because of a promotion they were running which advertised a $100 gift certificate for use during the stay at area attractions. What it turned out to be was $100 to apply to three or more activities that you had to book through them to get the $100.This was not disclosed as part of the deal. We would have had to pay close to $200 to get our $100 gift certificate. We were not interested in going to three attractions-that is not our style. I had even called in advance twice to make sure there weren't any loopholes after reading previous postings. I spoke with two different customer service staff at the front desk, who told me two different things, before I finally was able to catch the manager as he stepped out of the back room. It took over an hour of "discussion" to compromise to us buying tickets to two different attractions to in order to get our $100 gift certificate. The manager told us that it was all spelled out on the website. I had a copy that I showed him-it simply was not part of the website. He said that people should understand that "$100 gift certificate for use at area attractions" meant that you had to purchase tickets to more than one attraction! I told him that I believed that it was purposely misleading. With their cancellation fees, once they get you in the door you lose your money for the entire stay.
Simply put-I think they should either focus on being a resort or focus on being dells.com, a ticket seller. Right now it is so inappropriate I think it could be considered a racket.

“Nice Place to Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 August 2011

We went on a short vacation to the Dells this was our first time saying at the Meadowbrook Resort. We took our three children 3,11, &14 we stayed in the bunk house our room was by the pool side with the mini kitchen. The room was clean, the kids loved to have separate beds. My husband and I loved the privacy of having the kids beds in the cabin area. Our room was close to the main lobby, I liked the fact we didn't have to travel far to get to our room, that was a plus. The staff was friendly. We got our free gifts which and coupons we were able to use some of them too. We got the Wet N Wild package which was nice to have already paid for some of the activities. We didn't do much on the resort but they had activities for families to play outside activities together which is nice to do. The pool is for smaller children and the swimming pool goes up to 4'8" so, older kids can still have fun. It is quite and away from the Dells busy area but close enough to everything so if you need to go back to your room for any reason it wasn't far at all, which I felt was convenient. There was one down side to the resort the beds weren't very comfortable they were very very firm. It would help if the beds were upgraded. But overall it was a great place to stay. We will be back again!

“Perfect place for our family reunion”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 August 2011

My husband and I looked at many places hoping to find the perfect place for our family reunion. We have 3 married children and 7 grandchildren aged 1-11. The rooms we chose had 2 bedrooms so the babies could nap every day, and the living areas had a kitchen so we could eat some meals in. Everyone in the family enjoyed the resort and it exceeded our expectations. Even the big kids played a bit in the indoor "waterpark", which the younger kids absolutely loved. We ended each day with a marshmallow roast around the campfire and a movie in the lobby. Thanks to all the helpful employees, especially Tammy, for making our reunion such a memorable experience.
