“Yuck, Sleep Number!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 December 2011

On our mini honeymoon in September, my husband and I chose to road trip through Wisconsin. On our trip to Lake Michigan, we were looking for a nice place to stay near the water. This hotel had a great harbor view and very cool boats right out our window. We loved the very clean room with pull-out sofa, and huge bathroom.
Worst part of these Raddisons are the sleep number beds. It seems like they never stay "pumped up" all night long, and you're sleeping on a hard board.
We didn't eat at the hotel, but instead walked two blocks west to a nice bar and grill on the downtown, that had an amazing mac & cheese!
I'd go back for the supper uptown, but I wouldn't stay here again because of the beds.

Thanks for your review and congratulations on your wedding! We are so happy that you choose to spend a little time here in Racine and at the Radisson. I am so sorry that your king sleep number bed was not functioning correctly. Please know that we are staffed 24 hours a day and can fix guest issues on the spot. Also, if you would like to come back in the future, we do have 9 rooms in the hotel without sleep number beds. We welcome you back anytime.

“A Nice Place to Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 December 2011

My husband and I stayed overnight here due to a business dinner party we attended in the area. We don't live in town and didn't want to have drive the long distance back to our home so we chose this hotel. It's right on the Racine Harbor. We requested a harbor view, refrigerator and enough towels, etc for two people. All our requests were met. I was very happy with the cleanliness of the room. It was very spacious also. We would definitely stay again. The only thing that would have made it better was a little more lighting in the room. I realize everyone is cutting back but it would have been nice to have a more light.

“Nice Weekend by the Lake”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 October 2011

Along with another couple, my wife and I stayed here in mid-October. While the physical plant may be a little dated, we found our rooms and the public areas to be bright, freshly painted and well maintained. The front desk staff and the restaurant personnel were friendly and helpful. They were the only staff we encountered in this quiet stay.

We were a little disappointed to find that, although we had asked for two king bed rooms with lake views, we got queens instead. The significant difference for us was seating. Each room had one easy chair and then a desk chair that was not terribly comfortable. It was surprising that they could not meet our requests on what appeared to be a very slow weekend.

We had also been lead to believe that the rooms were equipped with "Sleep Number" beds, but that turned out to not be the case for us.

The only available parking is a public garage across the street where you are charged $1.50 each time you enter. This was not a problem for us, since were generally in and out just once each day. On the plus side the parking was very convenient! Be sure to have singles and /or change handy.

We had breakfasts in the hotel restaurant 2 days and they were good and also reasonably priced. If you just want juice, coffee and a roll, the coffee bar in the lobby is a bargain. We found some excellent local restaurants including Salute', an Italian place about 3 blocks away. If you like Italian, you'll love it!

Racine is old, but did not appear to be particularly depressed. Much of it is picturesque and the area around the waterfront is really quite attractive. All-in-all, we had a wonderful time there.

Room Tip: Rooms on the water are fun. They overlook a marina that is probably very busy during prime boating s...

“A Pit in a Pit”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 October 2011

Racine is a depressed urban area. The Radisson is a depressing place: No free coffee, intermittent and unreliable internet, surly staff, furniture from the 1950's and a moldy smell. Stayed a year in 2 nights. Never again. Staff was totally uncooperative when we needed some afternoon housekeeping and they said "They've all gone home (it was 3:30 pm) and we can't get anyone until the morning. Drive a little farther and go to Milwaukee - more hotel choices.

Room Tip: go elsewhere

“Great experience at the Radisson”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 October 2011

Stayed here during the triathlon, very pleased with my experience. The first night I shared a room with my friend. We had a double on the second floor with a view of the harbor, which was very nice. Plenty of room for two people including bikes and all our gear. Saturday morning I inquired about checking into my room early, and even though it was 9:00 in the morning, I was able to check in. My room was a single on the first floor. The view was not spectacular, as it looked out toward the parking ramp across the street, but I didn't care. The Sleep Number beds are wonderful, I have never slept so soundly the night before a race.
Front desk personnel went above and beyond --- when it looked like rain, they produced very large plastic bags that we covered the bikes with. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Nice touch to open up the Starbucks early on race day.
We ate dinner twice at the little Tiki Restaurant. They have a great grouper sandwich.
Will definitely be returning this summer.
