I prepaid my room online, or I would have checked out and switched to a different hotel. The outside looked nice, the lobby ok. Hotel staff marginally friendly. Elevator, carpets, walls were dirty. Hallway from parking ramp to hotel had tiles falling off the walls, and dried puddles of urine on the steps leading up to the hotel. Seemed like it might have been a nice hotel at one time but is very run down and in disrepair. Hallway and room carpets are heavily stained, and in placed the hallway wallpaper and base board carpet is being held on the wall with blue thumbtacks. Room looked clean on the surface, and the towels and bedding smelled freshly cleaned, but the mold stains on the window and around the tub and tub tiles was hard to ignore. The towel rack was on the floor. No decorating, boring tan wallpapered walls (with plenty of marks on them). Not quite creepy and felt fairly safe, but I didn't want to touch anything and couldn't wait to check out. The only saving grace was the view of the water from our window (through the loose screen once the filthy windows were opened). No one asked if everything was ok when we left, I have a feeling that they knew they didn't want to hear what we had to say.

City Center Hotel has a great staff who did everything they could to make our stay enjoyable. It is a shame there were not more of them. Hotel it totally under staffed. We learned the hotel changed ownership about two years ago and it is obvious the current owners are trying to suck every dime out of it they can before dumping it. Rugs are dirty, stair wells from garage are a disaster, furniture is old and worn. The hotel in general looks like it needed a face lift years ago and has gone down hill since. By the way do not plan on using the pool. You could not even see the bottom it was so cloudy and it was a general consensuses the jacuzzi was kept on so you could not see the condition of the water in it.

When I went to college in Oshkosh twenty years ago, this property was the Oshkosh Hilton. At the time, it lived up to the name and was one of the two high-end hotels in the area; the other being the Pioneer Inn, which sadly has been demolished, but that's another story.

I was hesitant to book at City Center due to all the bad reviews and from my own personal knowledge that the property has changed hands several times in recent years. However, I was going to be in town to attend Waterfest, the summer concert series directly across the street and didn't want to drive across town to one of the reputable chains. Incidently, there was also a three day Rock USA concert in town for the weekend and a fishing tournament so I thought booking a room two days prior to my arrival would be risky. Hotels.com provided a double room on the fifth floor facing south with a view of the Fox River for $75 - quite fair. I was only looking for a clean room to spend the night and then I'd be gone in the morning. Final bill with tax at check-out was $86.25.

Is it as gorgeous as I remembered in the past? No. Is it likely I'd recommend the place to a family with children? No. Is the decor dated? Yes. Could it use some freshening up in places? Yes. Was the staff at the front desk courteous? Yes. Was my room clean and functional? Yes. Would I stay again? Yes.

Bottom line...if you're in town on a Thursday night for Waterfest, you can't beat the price, location, and convenience.

13. Four people to registered to room, but constantly only three towels are given per day-everyday of our stay we had to call to get more towels, they did not get it
14. Ran out of toilet paper-had to use tissues
15. This is not part of a chain so upkeep is left up to the discretion of the owner...which is poor to say the least
This place makes a Days Inn look like the Ritz Carlton and they should be paying us to stay here!!
