CHECK IN
Very quick and the desk person very polite. Beautiful entrance area with two computer desks, numerous lounge chairs, and a fireplace. At checkin we were told there were snacks and drinks (alchohol and soda) from 5:30 to 7:30 in the dining/bar area. Our party consisted of one adult and four teenagers. I was provided one card for a free alcoholic beverage and the teenagers had unlimited sodas.
ROOM
Entered our room and were overwhelmed with the odor of cigarette smoke; we do not smoke so we wanted a different room. This is a non-smoking hotel (per Wisconsin law). Desk person stated they used to have smoking rooms until the new law was passed. I requested a constant non-smoking room, she said no problem. Next room was five away from the first and no smoking odor.
We had a two-queen suite room which is larger than the usual room. Upon entering the room to the left was a sleeper sofa, coffee table, and desk with two lamps. To the right along the wall is a low chest of drawers with a TV. Walking further into the room on the right was a sink, microwave, coffee maker, cupboards, etc. and on the left the bathroom. Straight ahead was the main bedroom area with two queen beds, long (8 drawer) chest with TV, 2 lounge chairs, and two lamps.
All the furniture appeared clean, but the carpet had obvious spotting. Nothing serious, just small spots here and there. Otherwise the room was quite clean. NOTE: This is an energy conserving hotel. When you enter the room a few lights work, etc. but nothing will fully operate until your room key is inserted in a slot just inside the door.
POOL
Very nice pool area. Lots of adults and children in this area. The hotel is located near the airport and there are several other hotels in the area without pools so we were issued neon green wristbands to be worn while in the pool area. There is a regular hotel size pool with a depth to six feet, a whirlpool attached to this, but separated by a water level wall, and a small one foot deep children's pool. Lots of tables and chairs in this area also.
EXCERCISE ROOM
Not very large, but well equipped. An eliptical machine, treadmill, bicycle, weights, and body balls. All machines appeared fairly new and were extremely clean.
BREAKFAST
Standard Choice Hotel breakfast, yet not on the par of other Comfort Suites we have stayed at. The breakfast was the standard of Quality Inn (Choice brand). There were waffles, assorted cereals, milk, juice, muffins, bagels, yogurt, and hard boiled eggs. No sausage, bacon, biscuits, etc. that we have enjoyed and expect at Comfort Suites.
NEGATIVES
The heat was set to a very warm temperature in our room and the thermostat (electronic) did not work - no lights, numbers, etc. Did not complain because it was 11:00pm when we discovered this. Bathroom shower curtain was stained and the water indicators were backward. Hot was cold and cold was hot!! Sleeper sofa had no sheets or blanket. The mattress itself was stained.
CHECKOUT
Not necessary - automatic.
