We weren't able to get reservations at our usual favorite Courtyard Madison West, but got an outstanding rate for the Fairfield down the street so we gave it a try.

Everything was really nice. Very Clean. Very quiet. The Fitness Center was excellent (2 Lifefitness Treadmills, 1 Lifefitness Elliptical and free weights).

Breakfast was fair: cold cereal and the usual waffle machine, but it saved us time as we were running out.

This seemed to be on the newer-renovated side and we will definitely stay here again.

No frills, but then again, for the rate, we were fine to be without frills.

PS the service was also excellent. The guy at the front had some sort of accent (Scottish?) and was a true gentleman. Very helpful.

The room and beds were very comfortable, and everything was in good condition. The hotel is relatively new as is reflected in the art deco theme in the lobby. They had a good, expanded continental breakfast, and the hotel staff was friendly and helpful. This hotel is located next door to a number of eating places and stores (part of a new shopping/entertainment area) and is on the Beltline. It is about 15-20 minutes from downtown Madison by car.

We had a couple of days of business to do at the nearby Marriott hotel, but it was pretty pricey, so we looked around the area. The Fairfield Inn (one of the Marriott brands) filled the bill, saving us probably $20/day on the room cost, plus they throw in a light continental breakfast (bread items, cereal, yogurt, fruit, etc.). They also have free internet, whereas the Marriott hotel charges. The Fairfield is right off the beltline, and is located on the edge of a shopping center, so you have a number of restaurants to choose from, plus Starbucks (down by the Marriott hotel, there is a Sprecher's restaurant that we tried and found pretty good). Room was clean and well-maintained, and also quiet (helped by the white noise from the always-on ventilation fan); flat screen TV with lots of channels. At our request, management provided at no charge a small refrigerator and microwave; desk staff always very friendly, and they provided cookies in the evening. The fitness room is pretty small (didn't use it). So nothing fancy, but no complaints. Glad we saved the money instead of staying at the hotel, and used the savings for our dinners.

This hotel is fabulous!! I have stayed here several times and have never been disappointed. Amazing customer service & great attention to the details!! They even shoveled out my suv after the blizzard- as well as the rest of the vehicles in their parking lot!! The rooms are just the right size and always clean. Convenient to downtown Madison as well as lots of shopping just a short walk away.
