My boyfriend and I stayed at the Audubon Inn this past New Year's Eve as we were looking for a different experience from the usual NYE festivities. What a great choice we made! The Inn is absolutely beautiful. We checked in without any problems (the owner Stacy was extremely helpful over email in answering questions and getting our room, dinner, and drink reservations all set up).
Our jr. suite was just lovely - tall ceilings, floor to ceiling windows, a beautiful four poster bed, and nice sitting area. The bathroom had a HUGE whirlpool tub which made for a wonderfully relaxing time. We had a great time reading the Guest Book in our room to see all the different people who had passed through the room since 2006! We also enjoyed the board games scattered throughout the main areas on each floor. It was fun to relax with a glass of wine and play a game.
The dinner at the attached restaurant was probably the best part of our trip....our server Gordon took wonderful care of us with prompt and friendly service. The truffle mushroom soup was out of this world....be sure you try it!!! After dinner we had drinks in the bar and enjoyed the live band. Wonderful music, but our only wish in that regard was that they had mixed in a few more 'upbeat' songs we could dance to, as it was NYE afterall!
Yes there are a few quirks as mentioned in earlier posts (room heat, water temperature, dated tv's, etc) but that is to be expected from a building erected in the 1800's. The little quirks are what make staying at a B&B what it is, and the owners have taken care to ensure that there are still some modern amenities to make up for this (dvd players in the room, jet tub, etc).
Overall we had an amazing trip. We do wish the breakfast was kept out until check-out at 11am vs being packed away at 10am (especially since it was New Years Eve and most guests were up quite late the night before). Also was a little disappointed in the toiletries in the room...would have liked conditioner to go with the shampoo.
We'd love to come back in the summer to experience the Marsh and walk the town. Thanks again.
Room Tip: We stayed in the Hummingbird Suite which overlooks the main road - there was very little traffic on...
