May be the best in Marshfield, but in most markets this class of hotel is sort of average/Express level. Average in most ways, not 4star.
Pluses: clean, easy parking (motel style), comfortable, and genuinely usable free internet over Wi-Fi that worked OK.
Bad stuff: room service. Food was improperly cooked for two meals I ordered (breakfast and dinner). I notified the General Manager, who dismissed it by acting surprised since he's been told its great. Yet friends in town refused to eat with us at the hotel, saying the food is disappointing. It is. NY Steak was 50% fat and overcooked, breakfast eggs were so-so and hash browns were very undercooked despite asking for well-done. Toast was ridiculously soggy. Manager did not credit me anything.
When you tell a GM of a hotel that TWO meals were screwed up, shouldn't he act concerned instead of flippantly answering back? Doh!
Rooms are OK, but many face either a depressing neon-lit street or a courtyard with large bright lamps going all night long. Free sundries are very average in this day and age, nothing special. However, the rooms are modern, clean, and the windows open (albeit very slightly). HD-TV is wasted since channel selection was below-average and lackins g a lot of HD options. Does have a safe, small fridge (no in-room snacks), a microwave oven. Tiny bathtub. Good shower. Cheap room heater that is noisy. Excellent hot water.
Has a pool, but this motel they call a hotel is located on the main street (Central) and there are no opportunities for natural recreation or beauty within walking distance. Lots of bars nearby, though. Drinking seems to be main activity in the winter, apparently.
Marshfield has nice people. Holiday Inn is OK - just average.
